Probably haven’t changed it because it clearly isn’t intended to be read as allah, nor is it the same.

This trainer has caused controversy with Muslims. Look at the sole.

Reminds me of a strongly worded letter I had to send to Birdseye after they dared to use an image which resembled that of the poddington peas. They were clearly mocking my belief in the one and only...
Why cant i see wat sizes are available? Ive tried a few different ones and cant select a size.

Interesting Nike don't have the full sole picture for this trainer on website where as for the rest of their trainer range they do? Why only show half a sole. Full picture would be better so those who might be offended can avoid them.

What are you on about? I personally choose to spend my own money on other companies and avoid Nike what does that have to do with you? Funny how non-Muslims are always the first to comment on what Muslims choose to do based on their faith, when it isn’t harming anyone else and doesn’t concern them. Have respect for others beliefs as we don’t judge you.

No I think you have blurred the issue.

No posters were having a go at Islam or Muslims in general or what they believe the comments were directed to you and your attitude towards Nike which they didn’t agree with

Blue ones are really nice.

Luck there's no 10s left as I promised myself never to buy air pocket soles again after a very expensive squeaky experience.
@SalmanOrange

Sorry I don’t mean to cause you any offence.

People see things differently.

I always think Cadbury snowman look very phallic like

Obliviously this would probably make them unsuitable for children.

However they pop up for sale every year in the winter

37987895-9s61F.jpg
It is clearly a snowman but from a distance when they are lined up on the shelves I just see little penis.

If Nike had written Allah on the bottom of the shoe they would probably never sell another trainer to Muslims all around the world.

It would be deeply offensive and Muslims and Non Muslims would boycott Nike.

However this isn’t the case as Muslims are buying Nike still as they can see the writing for what it is.

You have clearly decided what you see and how you are going tospend your money.

Surely it is a coincidence that the non Arabic characters resemble the word Allah as if it was written in Arabic. Similar to when people can see what they perceive to be images/shapes/characters in clouds or overcooked bread charred with what resembles a bearded man.

In this particular instance I do not believe Nike have set out to cause any offence or had the intention to deliberately do this, it just happens to be a design. As an anecdote if you give a monkey a keyboard and an infinite amount of time it will eventually bash together the words of Shakespeare and it will be purely coincidental similar to how a company might coincidently push out a design or a string of characters that may somewhat resemble something familiar.

We as Muslims in some instances are either looking to be offended or genuinely are baited to be and get offended. In this instance it's the first one.

How you vote with your wallet is up to you however the offence part is subjective so please do not brush all Muslims with the same offence brush as not all are playing the damsel in distress card requiring and saving from alleged offences that are at best clutching at concepts playing the victim card.

I usually wouldn't even post a reply however for some reason this generalised response did not sit well with me.

Blimey, if something as innocent as this offends you, how on earth do you get though life???

And anyway, who the heck decided that the stylised lettering on these trainers resembled some arabic text and actually noticed it in the first place?? (I'm guessing it's arabic, sorry for my ignorance if that's wrong).

I genuinely don't care what you choose to believe in, fairies, unicorns, Santa, your local God. It's all the same and has nothing to do with me if you keep it to yourself (Aside from the obvious liberties and powers that religion commands) But you're on a public forum complaining that Nike haven't altered something that you don't like due to said beliefs. So no, you aren't keeping it to yourself, you're trying to have things changed for everybody due to your entirely faith based beliefs. A trivial thing for sure (And a real lose/coincidental complaint from what I can see anyway) But this kind of idiotic attitude needs to be nipped in the bud from the start. Don't buy the trainers, fine, but don't try to manufacture some kind of pointless outrage to force others into the same position.

I just think its a non issue, logo looks vaguely similar i bet lf i wanted i could find other stuff with similarities. Stop getting offended over everything, especially things that don't actually cause anyone any harm.

I just gave my opinion and responded to another persons comment on the issue. Also, why shouldn’t I raise awareness to other Muslims to save them the hassle of returning if bought unknowingly? There has been a petition with nearly 50,000 signatures for a few months now so I’m not creating an ‘outrage’ just stating facts and outlining a ongoing issue

Not sure what you mean by vague, looks practically identical to me. All you have to do is emphasise, nobody is expecting you to drop your phone and protest in the streets. Not sure why your getting so offended, the guy just made an observation on an Internet forum, he didn't come knocking on your door like some jehova witnesses I know. Remember the whole controversy made the H&M monkey sweater.

I "have to" emphasise? Erm not really no, if I disagree. Doesn't really look like it to me. Lets leave it at that, really can't be bothered with a debate over this rubbish.
