This is the first time I've seen this lens under £400.
Nikon call their Macro lenses "Micro" just to confuse everybody!
It is the Nikon 85mm f3.5G ED VR AF-S DX Micro

The lens has a 1:1 reproduction ratio, which means that the thing you are photographing will be the same size on the sensor as it is in real life - so it's great for taking pictures of small things like flowers, insects, etc.

Brilliant
it's digital (DX), AF-S so auto focuses on any F-mount including the infamous D40,40x and D60(my little baby), it's VR so quite useful to help stop down 2,3 or even four stops as Nikon claims...
f3.5 so here's a wide aperture at 85mm (doesn't measure up to the pro 2.8 but for that price, can't complain)
11" min focus distance (awesome!!!)
IF , so your Cir-Pol won't annoy you ...and can also use a hood...

too bad it's not VR II i'm absolutely disappointed ....

one thing though...how's the seller's reputation? is it good? or ....?
what about warranty? 1yr grey "international"? or proper 5yr?

voted hot just for the name and the price
what about the seller?

too bad it's not VR II

As I understand Nikon's naming scheme. The apparent VR I and VR II do not mean a specific version of the VR, the I and II relate to the lens as a whole. The VR on a lens is that current when the lens is released. The I updates to II when the lens optics are updated.

See link above, it is VR II
Can't one just take the P*** at it? After all, that's what we're here for, to criticise every deal and label it cold

FWIW

Clifton Cameras are very good to deal with in my experience. I bought my DSLR twin lens kit from them as both their price and customer service were very good. They sell UK goods and they are a Nikkor Lenses Premier Dealer.

hotter than hot then
too bad I can only vote once

DBORE: cheers

I noticed that one of their deals had the lens, and a few extras for £41. Bargain (and misprice) so I ordered one. Within minutes the price has been reverted back to £410, and I've had the phone call informing me of the problem.

Oh well, the excitement lasted a few minutes.
