Great lens, lots of good reviews. This is the cheapest i've ever seen it, currently £195.99 at amazon.co.uk

Im looking for something like this for kids football but Ive heard that it is too slow focusing is that correct?

I currently use the 55-200 f4-5.6G ED VR which is pretty good but sometimes its not quite sharp enough (probably me being a noob at sports photography) and a little extra reach would come in handy sometimes

Also would I benefit from a monopod even with the nikon VR lens?

Sounds like a good deal but would there be any import tax to pay on deliveries from Digitalrev seeing they are based overseas?

any import tax on these?

Cracking lens... (Unless you have £1000+ burning a hole in your pocket)... And this is a bargain. I paid £164.00 for mine and I thought that was a deal.. So this is brill.

At the check out the message regarding Import Tax is

No Import Tax/Duty to Pay:
Any import tax/duty charged will
be billed directly us.

Currently showing as £139...

I just placed an order just now @12:31 and price is £129.00 - It on the front page under Today's Deal.

Just bear in mind you will not have a UK/EU Nikon warranty so any problems and it has to be managed by the company as Nikon wont touch the lens (I know digital rev have good reviews but worth bearing in mind nonetheless)

Great value. I am tempted.

I use a D7000 with a 55-300 for sports and i have no complaints , As long as your on the right setting and Good light is everything :-)

Thanks for posting op........HOT

I got this a few weeks ago from them. Arrived well packaged, no import taxes etc to pay, just be prepared to wait approx 10-14 days.

As I've said around a hundred times before and continue to say on every DigitalRev thread, there will be no import tax or duty to pay on their items. They actually keep some high-demand products ready to ship in UK warehouses.

The strange part about DigitalRev is the fact that their customer service and policies are much better than that of big-business shops in this country.

Biggest problem with lenses is the cost, I'd pickup the F4 70-200. But even thats rather expensive.

Oh wow. £10 off, brilliant price.

I think the chinese dude with the british accent who makes videos for them is awesome.

how do they get away with import tax?

I used this lens at Oulton Park on Saturday for the touring car racing. I got some great pictures. Don't expect AutoFocus to be quick enough for something like that though, you need to pre-focus and pan, but unless you have really big bucks to throw at a lens (and I'm not talking £1500, I mean much more!) then you'll have to use that method anyhow.

I got my one of these for ~£200 two years ago, and that was a bargain then, but this is just an absolute no brainer if you want a good zoom lens.

Fantastic price. I ordered mine from Amazon (seller TopT) a couple of days ago for around £166, I'm now tempted to cancel the order and buy this one instead. The only advantage of the TopT purchase is a full Nikon warranty. Although the warranty offered by Digitalrev looks pretty good too. What to do? oO

They pay it, unlike most grey-market eBay sellers who expect the buyer to foot the bill

I don't know about Digital Rev, but Panamoz used to advertise as Duty paid etc.
What they really meant, was that they valued the items at less than $20.
If your item was caught by customs, and you got a bill, then they would pay it.
I guess it was worth the gamble for them, on the few they had to pay out on.

its probably more technique than the lens, to be sharp you need a fast shutter speed and the lens stopped down a bit, try ISO 800, F7.1 and shutter 1000/1 or there abouts.

Ordered. Thanks, kianouis!

I have what might be a really dim question. Does this lens work with a canon eos or are they proprietary? Does it depend on a model by model basis?

I've had this lense a while, and absolutely love it.

Snap it up at this price.

This uses the Nikon F-mount. All Nikon lenses are only compatible with Nikon bodies, and all Canon lenses are only compatible with Canon bodies. The confusing part is, third party lens manufacturers (such as Tamron, Tokina and Sigma) make different versions of their lenses, compatible with different brand bodies (i.e the Tamron 70-300mm VC lens is available for Nikon, Canon or Sony bodies)

Cracking lens...

Thanks. I’ll give this a miss, then.

Have been torn between this (the 55-300) and the 70-300 for a while now. Its hard to ignore the value for money this is representing right now though. So I've ordered this.

Ordered. Thanks op

Been after one for ages, great price. A well deserved hot from me

Can someone tell me what the warranty will be for this? Will I be able to send it back to Nikon if its faulty?

This is DigitalRev's warranty page

http://www.digitalrev.com/help/worldwide-local-warranty/NDMzNTc5MQ_A_A

That's what you get from them. Nikon lenses have an international warranty, but you won't get the UK warranty.

Thanks for the reply Joseph, it doesn't mention how long the warranty lasts for, any idea?

Been watching this lens for a year now waiting for it to hit sub 200 before getting it, glad I didn't have the money & waited that little bit longer, hot price can't see it getting much cheaper for a long time. Ordered thanks op.

If you scroll down to the Terms & Conditions, it says "DigitalRev one year limited warranty is available on all products offered in DigitalRev Online Store"

The Nikon international warranty card included with the lens is also valid for 12 months.

Cancelled my Amazon order (which I thought was a good deal @ £166) and ordered from here. Thanks OP.
