Hot from me!

Great deal, heat added

Good camera, and heat added. But be aware of all the 1* reviews on Amazon stating that the battery door broke off after a while.
Looks like a design flaw?

amazon.com/Nik…tar

Brute force and ignorance!?

cold from me since it's ASDA direct! good price ONLY if you manage to get one. I have tried and failed for the second time with ASDA Direct. I see a deal pay for the item and i get a receipt saying collection within 3-4 days but never get a response back from ASDA for over 3 weeks.
Then when you ask them they say sorry it's out of stock and refund you the money. This is the second time. none other retailers have done this to me..good for ASDA to ROLL our money while they have it for 3 weeks!!

14mp + Asda + Nikon = Hot

i don't have a problem with asda direct. i ordered the canon powershot A3300 that was posted onhotukdeals.com/dea…e=3 hukd approx 2wks ago & had an email to confirm my order straight away. the camera was delivered within a couple of days. brilliant service. this nikon camera looks like a hot deal to me. if i hadn't got the canon, i'd have gone for this.

oops, not sure what happened with the link i was trying to add!

AA batteries

AA batteries are what I always want in a camera, they are available anywhere in the world. unlike bespoke batteries.

ordered heat added

i rather pay £10-20 more and have optical image stabilizer

I'd be wary of assuming Nikon = great quality, I once picked up a reduced basic Nikon from Tesco that I ended up returning as picture quality was unacceptable (not faulty). Replaced it with a Canon (cheaper even at full price) that was far superior.

Having said that, this is an amazing price, and this camera may well be better; I've found cheap Fuji cameras similarly hit & miss, and Canon ones the most consistently decent. Maybe someone can post re. how decent this camera is?

Voted hot as an excellent price for a well-known brand.

I ordered a cheap Fuji not long ago...it was dire, which was a shame, as I had fallen into the trap of having brilliant ones of that brand in the past, and just assumed they were all fairly good standard.

Not saying this isn't, and it obviously isn't a Fuji, but definitely worth a few minutes of looking up some reviews online.

Also, no Image Stabilizer? Hmm.

Still a hot deal.

Don't get wow'd by the 14MP. There is no need with a sensor this size. Not saying its a bad camera but it wont be the most important thing.

two left...

thanks

Walmart deal in billions - they really couldn't care less about your paltry £39 being in their account for a couple of weeks...

"3.6x optical zoom"
This is ok for a snap shot close ups only. Anything else it will be pointless. Heat added for price but I'd rather spend a little more and get a better lense. Mega Pixels are a gimmick unless you need to print off massive posters.

3.6x optical zoom is more than adequate for most people.

Wowed, I almost wee weed in my kecks. I'm not much of a photographer but does the MP not matter then? Cos I saw a cheap Vivitar one that was 5mp and seemed really really cheap.

You would be better of with Panasonic Lumix S3 which can be got for around 5-10 quid more

canon one for £59 is miles better....

the best cameras ive ever had were canon, best picture quality.

Was gonna get this with the £35 vouchers Asda gave me for a price mistake they made and refunded but got headphones instead, should have got this, gonna be out of stock now!

Good stuff...

great spot,heat added

Bought the L23 model from Asda instore a few months ago for the even cheaper price of £36, which included a pair of basic alkaline AAs, a case & 4GB card. It has been unacceptably grainy when taking indoor shots on auto-mode. However, if you make use of its various modes for Landscape, Sport, night portrait etc, then it's really perfectly acceptable for a sub-£40 point and shoot. Support from Nikon has even extended to the level of supplying me with Firmware updates: something unheard of on cameras in this price bracket.:)

Heat added. I remember the days when I paid £330 for a 3.0 MP Ricoh! How times have changed.

super deal, got mine, big heat, big bargain:{

Ordered but will be sending back as i didnt realise it was AA batterys

Can anybody recommend a decent compact for around £100 or less.
Would like a higher zoom if possible and image stabiliser.
Thank you.

@anneo: Canon SX220 - absolutely brilliant.

What more MP will do is enable you to have larger images, and be able to crop those images and still have decent sized pictures.

Aye true, but with regards to this particular Nikon model, I think the cameralabs.com reviewers said that the 10MP Canon has better quality images so blowing up a 14MP pic would give worse results with the Nikon than a 10MP pic with the Canon.
