Interesting product. Too wide focal length for my taste.

More expensive than your previous … More expensive than your previous deal.http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nikon-coolpix-a-16mp-aps-c-compact-camera-amazon-2316214

Yep 5 months ago and lasted a couple of weeks. The price went up to £345 and then £375. This is the best price since. If only we had a time machine!

Time machine, how cute!

According to 3camels, the price has been hovering around the £260/£270 mark.

You win this argument. Go and have a **** to celebrate!
I wonder is this will ever have a successor? 3 years is a very long time in digital photography.

New DL 18-50 looks pretty interesting but will need to (at least!) half in price pretty quickly.

The DL 18-50 does look interesting especially the focal range.

as thinking the same about the Panasonic FZ200 which has been around for 3 1/2 years.

The Sony A5100 is a far superior camera with a far superior lens and can be got for not much more than this price pretty regular from John Lewis. hotukdeals.com/dea…078

A5100 is a good camera but it's not pocketable and its currently £449.
Also the standard lens is quite poor so you would need to budget for an extra lens as well. The CoolPix A is fitted with a f/2.8 prime lens. Admitted it is limited to 28mm but for landscapes and wide angle it is excellent.

nice camera but focus speed is supposed to be slow - i know you like to link to fixes tk42 so...

you dont need to budget in another lens on the a5100 - its crapness is exaggerated
sure the coolpix is better at 28mm but then its a 1 trick pony

much smaller than i thought though - same size as rx series which is pretty cool

Better camera but that lens is pretty appalling at the wide end, it's pretty good at the longer end though.
Well I actually own the A5100 and I find the images at the wide end of the lense is nothing more than perfect in my eyes.
There's a test of the two here for comparison...

One other possible option could be Fuji X-M1/A1/A2 with 27mm prime.

Costs more if both new but can get used for about £300 total. Same sensor size, good image quality and lots of lens options. Trade-off - slower auto-focus I guess?
Ricoh GR is the only real alternative if you want something RX100 size with an APS-C size sensor that fits in your pocket. Slighty better imo but a lot of people prefer the Nikon colours.
Cheaper now than previous deal
