Great price for a beast of a camera. Watch those ships come back into view after they disappear over the "curved" horizon ;-).
Dispatch 1 - 3 weeks...but usually much faster with Amazon.

Real bargain for this camera, great build quality and superb results in my opinion. Wish I'd paid this price
That’s a lot of kit for the price! Heat added(y)
That some impressive zoom...if i didn't have a camera already i would have bag this. Has anyone have this and can comment it on its stability when zooming far?
Jesus Perkypig, you're pleased to see me(!)!!?

I had this before upgrading to its bigger brother. If you have a steady hand then its possible to use full zoom, it's downside is its small sensor, does not perform well in low light.

My canon dslr is older yes i have to change lenses but its so much better than this, faster to take pictures and better results, its handy for holidays etc but i prefer my older canon dslr which was cheaper also

I also have the p1000 (125x zoom) i dont find the small sensor that much of a major issue it's by far the best imaging camera in the house and the zoom goes up to 539mm 35mm equivalent
The stability is generally fine even at 125x you get used to it and generally get a decent image.

i would like a decent DSLR for low light astro photography and a large sensor but generally the p1000 goes on road trips and holidays and the days out I stick to the smartphone
I have this camera and love it for what it does - super zooms!!! I have had good footage of high altitude aircraft and of course the moon! It does need to be supported by a tripod or a solid surface to reduce the lens jump at the greater distances but wow just great fun seeing how far you can zoom into things when out and about. Great price for this camera - I paid a little more for it a few years ago and so has held its price even with the entry of the P1000.
It’s not the best camera as the sensor is tiny, the operating system isn’t as good as say a canon, that zoom though is mighty impressive and I would recommended it on that alone!

It looks like the Hubble Telescope
Anything else with similar zoom? I’m thinking to get one instead of a novice telescope for my kids.
I never had DSLR CAMERA. Thinking to buy this after good reviews.

You can clearly see the moon with this...not so great for planets obviously but it’s awesome to get some good moon shots

Just so you know it’s a bridge camera, lens isn’t detachable etc
This or the cheaper (£249) Panasonic FZ82 with half the zoom (65) but 4k photos with after shot refocus?
is a great camera but this is not a deal at all thos it the normal price of you look online you will see a lot of places sell it at this price plus with the p1000 out as well bigger zoom but this camera is great for the price

I have the panasonic FZ82 and love it. Esp the 4K burst mode as its a life saver. Got some great moon shots on mine at the max zoom
39409477.jpgYou can't see it in this pic but on my 4K tv you can see the stars in the back ground
39409477.jpgThe colours come out great too with this camera

I am def happy with it but the filming in low light is a big let down. It's great in natural light outside, but indoors with the lights on and it still looks so grainy

This isn't a DSLR camera?

No, this is a bridge camera, with a fixed lens.

I think you missed the context of my post, but I appreciate your good intent
So I have a camera/device for most occasions (incl DSLR) but nothing for zoom. Is it worth getting a mega-zoom bridge camera just for the zoom bearing in mind I'll prob have a camera for areas where a bridge camera will fall down?
The flat earther's camera of choice. Not kidding BTW!
39412793-pt0sL.jpgI find this too big compared to sx50hs ( ~£100 used } which fits in a jacket pocket.
As mentioned , don't use it often , much prefer smaller sx50 hs

Wouldn’t touch a bridge camera
Price gone up
Good price for the camera i bought the 1000 version and sent it back it was crap for the money. You cant go wrong at this price

Fixed lens. There is a reason pros use dslr

I have Nikon DSLR and a selection of lenses. Bought this for the long lense for comfortable price. Might be just the right camera for holidays

Oh what as a cheaper telephoto option?

Yeah...I have 300mm zoom lens and 500mm prime lens but would never pack them for overseas holiday. This I might actually take with me as a budget long lens and I know it won't be good for low light shots.

Oh I just use the 70-200mm lens but fair enough
I've owned this camera since not long after it first came out but would have to say on reflection I've been disappointed.

Camera struggles to provide good stability at long focal length so tripod is a must. Less light is let in at longer zoom so higher ISO is needed introducing noise. At max zoom on sunny days you might struggle with heat hazes etc. Photographing anything moving fast can be difficult.

I would say picture quality is actually worse than on my old Panny FZ28 which came out around 2008. It's possibly worth having if you just want great zoom and aren't too fussed about amazing picture quality.

Your aforementioned Pro wouldn't be using a basic 70-200mm kit lens either.
70-200mm is a very broad area and your mind went to a kit lens which no pros use. Do yourself a favour and leave

The new Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM is an ideal lens for professional photographers who shoot with the Canon 1D and 5D series of DSLR cameras. The inclusion of Air Sphere Coating (ASC) technology helps to reduce flaring and ghosting, and suppresses the reflection of light.

Agree with you, its to slow also
Voted hot because of price but I would rather pay the same money for a canon dslr with 2 lenses.
