Available in Black and Red. Looks like a very good compact camera for travel. In 35mm terms, the lens is equivalent to 25-750mm.Apparently the screen is super bright and so great for viewing in bright sunlight (unlike many other compacts).

Free delivery or click and collect from John Lewis & Waitrose stores.

The red version is the same price at Amazon, but looks like it only includes a standard 1 year guarantee.

Very good review from PhotographyBlog :- photographyblog.com/rev…ew/

Glad to hear it, mine is being delivered tomorrow

Anyone know of any Bridge cameras with a better spec but around this price? also is this camera a big step up from a smartphone camera?

Anyone know how this compares to the Sony hx50?

Why would you want a 'bridge'? The size of a DSLR to lug around with the quality of a compact - and probably AA power and no viewfinder unless you spend much more.
But they are all a BIG step up from a phone camera.

Think that's my question answered. Thanks

Panasonic LUMIX TZ-60 18.1 MP has a viewfinder al beit a digital representation was what I expected to buy but
We went for the Sony Hx60 after playing with them in the store and gives nice results for a travel camera!! and just felt much better in the hand for my partner. Both 30 x zoom, but to get a 30 x zoom for £165 in a package as good as this Bargain city.. Going to get my mum to try it out and hope its not too late to pick one up, as I think it will be perfect Holiday camera for her too.

I know Cool Story an all, just throwing in a couple of other similar but more expensive camera for iSuper'n'Heat

typical besford answer and even getting in a whine about AA batteries and viewfinder in a hypothetical camera!

a bridge and dslr and comparable in size but a dslr does not have the same versatility in terms of zooming in at all
completely different things
best camera phones would be similar to these in terms of quality also - but you are at a fixed 'zoom' so not so handy for different distances
this camera has the range of a bridge but in a smaller body, looks nice but the reviews elsewhere aren't as ecstatic about the camera as which (though positive)

Anyone know how this compares to the Sony hx50?

I personally prefer it. I bought a Sony HX50 for myself and my sister a fee months before I bought this. My sister loves hers, but I found the quality of the colours was a bit bleached so returned mine. The Nikon is a much smaller camera but takes beautiful pics. I've used it this weekend to capture the activity in an easier egg hunt. Beautiful clear pictures taken from one side of a big field to another. Also a swimming pool session capturing the splashes.

I'll try to remember to take some pics tonight to show you. It's far better than an older Panasonic I had which cam won't all grainy (hmm I'm spending like a camera addict here) . You have to hold your finger over the flash to stop it popping up automatically unless you've got the flash turned off.

I think the Hx60 was better in low light, but didn't spend too long with the Nikon to be fair,
The price of this kind of takes it into a lower bracket to my mind meaning it is a no brainer...
to finish my earlier Essay My Mum's just this second bought one

Oh and for the OP it's 2 year Guarantee with John Lewis

Weird, sure I stated in the original post that it came with a 2 year guarantee; obviously not...

I cant decide if I will get the Sony HX50 or this, The sony is £160 from argos (with free £10 voucher) and has 20.4 MP but no GPS
