That is true. They would probably say a bugatti veyron for £50000 was a bad deal because they can get a citroen c1 for under £10000. I would also agree with the D700 comment, though. Unless you are a pro and need the extra weather seals then the d700+mb-d10 is a better solution. This deal is £300 less than anywhere else, though. You could spend that on an SB-800 or 4 x 8GB extreme iv cards. Hot deal from me.

apart from the speed there's not many advantages over the d700. in fact I prefer the d700 over the d3. sensor cleaning, on camera flash which can act as a commander, a few tweaks in the menu system and weight are just to list a few. with the battery grip on it does feel heavier and looks bigger, but you do have the option to remove the battery grip. by the way with the grip attached the d700 is as fast as the d3. build quality of the d700 is also fantastic. has a suttee life of 150,000 doubt wether any non pro will go through the life of the shutter. I did have a d3 but was a bit too big for me to take out when on leisure. even at wedding shoots I take my grip but is hardly used as I can easily take 1000 shots with the standard nikon battery. not regretted since buying the d700. also thought the d3 was discontinued? as not many stock this, currys have an bay outlet where they sell end of line stock . this is where I picked up a new d3 for £1900, used it for a month and sold it for more than I paid and purchased a d700

I have the D3 (yes it's discontinued, replaced by the D3s) and a D700 and I'd agree with most of the comments re the 700 being a better bet right now with the battery promotion.

There are some advantages for the D3 over the D700 however unless you are using either camera a great deal they won't be too noticable.

For the pedants amongst you, the D3 is 9fps, the D700 (with grip) 8fps.

If you can afford it, get the D3, I got mine second hand on fleabay for £1650.

This is a hot price for a new D3 though.
