The £360 price is from a different seller, brand toys. The Amazon price is £374 less the promotional discount of £75.

😪

Excellent deal. I paid £379 for this camera recently it's a great wee camera. Getting the VR lens with it at £299 is an absolute steal.

How does this compare to the canon 1300d ? As my daughter is asking for a DSLR & has mentioned the above & is just about the same price.

Remember the body is just part of a camera system. Ergonomics and features vary slightly between brands, but glass is arguably more important and that's where the biggest investment will be..

I personally chose Nikon, but with a view to the lenses I wanted to go with it. The kit lens is pretty amazing for the price, but it's just a starting point..

A common addition would be a fast prime. The Nikon f1.8 35mm at £160 is a typical entry level, and every lens wants a protector so that's another £15. Add a half decent walkabout zoom and you've already exceeded the cost of this kit..

So without getting hung up about it, I'd recommend your daughter research specific lenses of interest before investing in one platform or another..

BTW this is the protector I would recommend. Link takes you to a 55mm thread other sizes are available. If you do buy either kit for your daughter do her a favour and get one of these to go with it. The kit lens here is about £130 this Hoya will offer decent protection to the front element, which will crack fairly willingly with a decent tap.

It's a good deal but if you are counting on it for Christmas or similar, then note that Amazon cancelled my order and a lot of other people's the last time this deal came up. hotukdeals.com/dea…569 I won't be reordering.

I tried to buy it back then too, and had my order cancelled
Difference is that this time the black camera is in stock, on the older deal the cameras weren't available but it said 'order now and we'll deliver when available.' I dont think they could cancel an order if the item is in stock?

Anyone buying the please check.the box when it arrives. A similar deal happened a few months ago and they arrived with eu plugs. Amazon did however apply a credit to buy the correct.charger after a quick.chat etc. After my discount I picked this up for a total of 214. Brill camera

Exactly what I am looking for. Thanks OP, HOT! I had my eye on it at Curry's for £374 'after' their promo was applied, so this is a great price!

Good point. But I wouldn't put anything past Amazon! Seem to have nothing but trouble with them at the moment (dealing with one delayed Prime "next day delivery" order right now)

Just ordered one. Been waiting for this to get under £300 for a while now. You could get it at this price on a grey import for a while but a warranty is really important on an slr.
wouldnt worry about waiting for Black Friday deals on this, no way will it get more than a tenner cheaper.

Amazon offer 2 year's accidental damage and breakdown cover on this camera for £25.50. Anyone got any experience on Amazon's cover policies? I'm buying this for a teenager, so am thinking it is a wise investment.

I need a wifi enabled camera, so looking at the D5300

Great deal, thanks.

I've ordered, good deal.

Thanks ordered.

I just received this, and it came with German manual and EU plug.

This is exactly what happened last time Amazon had them on offer. I cannot believe that they haven't learned from the mistake and changed their supplier.

The good news is that you should be able to negotiate a sizeable partial refund. Last time round, some folk got over £100 back but I think £60 was more typical. There was very little consistency with a lot depending on who you got through to and how forceful you were prepared to be.

Security issue? Sounds like nonsense to me.

They are saying it is illegal to sell an electrical product without proper UK plugs and they need to open an investigation (which I doubt they will). Technically true, but why can't they just send the correct plug instead of needing the whole item to be returned?

When I bought a camera from before that had an EU cable, the rep simply looked up how much a UK cable would cost and refunded me that amount. This worked well for me as I had a spare UK cable. Even I hadn't the cost of the cable is peanuts. Don't forget that the charger is fine. It is only the cable that needs changing.

Sounds like you need to have another go. If you phoned before, then try the online chat and vice versa. Good luck.
