If you're going to criticise, do it constructively by saying where it's cheaper, rather than being having a go at someone who's posting deals.

See what the people posted after your initial post? That's more helpful.

Amazon is more expensive (unless the lens kit is additional?) Argos seems to be £329. I'm after this camera, but i'm reluctant to part with £300+, once its below, i'm having it

I was in a rush at the time but yeah i get what you are saying

I am also waiting for sub £300 but I only paid £269 for my g1x mark iii so this is more for my daughter to be able to come with me taking photos.

269??? from where lol? runs at about a grand
You'd have to be a little bit nuts not to spring the extra £20 for the VR lens kit!

tbf whilst its nice to have its not essential
heres a list of all the times i needed stabilisation with a kit lens of this focal range:

the real problem with the deal is that its not a good price, eg. you can get with vr for a tenner less at amazon

So I'm guessing "shooting in less than ideal light" has never entered into your shooting habits.

well i'm more a use the right tool for the job kind of guy
its easy to handhold that focal length at certain speeds but those speeds aren't any good for any motion
if there is no motion then i can use a tripod or multiframe shoot or use a prime or whatever

That's great for you then, but not everyone wants to lug a tripod around with them to any occasion taking place in a dimly lit room or after the hours of 8pm. Getting a couple of extra stops of exposure without having to bump your ISO into the range where noise creeps in is a genuinely useful tool in a great many situations, people who already know they're going to use a prime or tripod don't really need to listen to my advice about VR but for the new buyers these entry level DSLRs attract who may never buy another lens or accessory for the whole time they own the camera, the extra couple of notes is a no brainer.

those that aren't going to buy another lens would generally be better served with a quality compact but you know someone is going to jump in and shout NIFTY FIFTY a few times so i'm sure a prime will be an option before long

an occasion in the dark says people to me, shutter speeds suitable for people dont need vr at these focal lengths
not everyone wants to lug a tripod about and not everyone wants to pay and extra 20quid they dont need to

not sure if this camera does multiframe but i'll assume not as you ignored that - can obviously do in post if needed though
Offer seems to have expired now.
