I have the D3300, paid £320 for it less than 2 months ago. If there's any negatives, it's very basic in processing features. The quality is amazing though, I have a stupidly overpriced 16-80mm lens on it, and it takes beautiful shots, great for beginners like myself...

D3300 for £100 less (with same lens) is possibly a better buy. D3300 has twice as powerful flash, ultrasonic sensor cleaner and a microphone port, which are missing from the D3400.

If you Google for "difference d3300 d3400" you will see that there is hardly any difference between the two. Agros has the D3300 with the non-VR lens for £339 or £359 with VR lens. I don't know if the code applies. Personally I would prefer the D3300 with VR lens to D3400 with non-VR. I don't see any better prices on the camerapricebuster website.

Currys have the D3300 for £319 with the latest AF-P lens or £339 with the AF-P VR lens.

The non-VR (AF-P) lens is very sharp, I would'nt be too fussed about VR on a lens this size, it's more important for telephoto work.

I have a 3300 and I purchased a little plug in for £34 and I can do all the things that the 3400 does
