Non VR lens
Was looking at DSLR cameras to replace my aging Canon. However I think mirrorless is now the way to go but seems this is not

Isn't the AF-P lens the standard version I thought it was VR (?)

It is longer term but you will need more than £300 check out Olympus deals is that's your budget

Canon have a range of these already. M100 looks interesting.

Not got a set budget (yet) but I do have a limit, preferably under £500 & has to do video. So needs a nice large screen. Might help if it fits my Canon lens's or I'll have to sell them. I do have a Sony lens that fits nothing I have, but that's another story.

Has to out perform my Canon EOS 300D & at least have all the features.

Perform is diffcult to quantify mind.
Im glad i moved to mirrorless, but a DSLR still does some important things as good or better.

It has vibration reduction, but the switches for that and autofocus are now in the camera software. Newer AF-P (since 2016) lenses may need a firmware update in the compatible camera. Shouldn't need it in a more recent retail camera like this one though.

No, that is incorrect. It is a VR lens, see here:

I doubt that any recent DSLR would not have VR lenses, or at least in-body stabilisation.

I’m in JL looking now. It’s definitely not VR. As someone else said the VR lens kit costs £30 more
Is there an ideal SD card for this camera?
