This looked an incredible deal for this little camera and these two lenses; one of which retails at over £200 by itself.

I ordered this the other day, just got round to posting.

What a cracking deal, the 300 lens is over £300 on its own.

Had an older d40 only with 200mm,going back a few years

but great cameras... one from 2009...

Jesus, is that 70-300 lens like £200-300 normally on it's own? I wonder how good it is. I'm tempted by this! I have a D3300 so could share the lens with my dad.

Yup it is. I ordered mainly because of the lens. It’s on eBay for ~£160 new.

EDIT: Be careful that lens is AF-P I think and if so it’s not compatible with most older Nikon’s. Just remembered about that because my Dad has a D90 and it’s not going to work.

Is this decent but not too complex for a first DSLR? Seems like with the additional lens this is good value

Looking to pick up nature photography

My dad is big into photography but not so much me. He suggested this as my first DSLR after a few months of borrowing one of his, and pointed me to this review.

Hope that’s of help to you
Bargain with that telephoto included, lens is currently £299 on Amazon.

Thanks. Bit of pre-bed reading for me

Not very good tbh

Very blurry at full zoom, poor & loud auto focus

Imho with good quality mirrorless cameras getting so cheap there's no reason to buy entry level dslr (especially aps-c) with largely obsolete tech inside, and lenses that bring new meaning to 'value offering'

I had a D3200 years ago that I was mostly happy with as an inexperienced beginner, in a time when mirrorless cameras were £2000+, but this black Friday the Sony A7+50mm lens was about £450, and you'll get much better pictures out of it.
Thanks OP, great deal, Amazon kit with just the 18-55VR going back and ordered this.

Any links to a good Sony A7 deal? Most are nearly double this price

Have you got this lens?
From what I read, the 70-300 is the fastest focussing of any DX lens and is known to be really sharp. On top of that, the whole point of AF-P is for it to be quiet.

robodan is a fanboy often spouting irrelevant comparisons - usually about how much he paid for the A7II that one time making all other prices too much (or in this case the A7)
even taking the telephoto here which is well regarded as 200quids worth that leaves 200for the camera and standard kit so less than half the price of the old A7
bargain and heat added

Had the 70-200 (terrible, blurry, sold it) and the 70-300 (terrible, blurry, sold it)

Make the same mistake I did if you like, or learn from it?
Heat! Would be a great starter bundle for any photographer.
I have this camera and and the 70-300 lens, 50mm f1.8

Great kit, my main issue is changing ISO you have to go into the settings, no FN button, Other than that had some awesome photos and it's almost as light and small as a mirrorless.

You may have the older non AF-P lens. This one has AF-P which is a pizo drive. Very fast and quiet. The only annoying thing is there is no physical switch for the vr. But other than that very good and sharp for the price. Same goes for the 18-55mm kit lens.
Stuck between this and the Sony A6000. No idea about cameras but looking to start with something decent to progress with. Checked the comparisons and they seem quite neutral.

Would be madness to invest in a DSLR system now. A6000 all day long.

I would advise that you go to a camera store, and handle both cameras. Which type and model feels comfortable in hand is a very individual thing.

I agree on the higher end. However the Nikon DX line will have some phenomenal lenses available for cheaper especially on the used market, This kit and a 35mm F1.8 for sub £500 will cover nearly all your photo needs at the cost of some size, the D3500 is Nikons smallest DSLR though. Just cos it's a DSLR doesn't mean it's dead. The A6 line is awesome but the EVF isn't as good as the higher end mirrorless and lenses will be typically more expensive. Just my opinion
bit late to the party. Would you still recommend this deal at £469 as a beginner bundle
