Get the 7d killer with a professional grade lens for under £2,500! Time to sell up Canon users. Full list of specs for this camera can be found all over the internet. It was announced at CES just over a week ago. I have decided to get one; however I do need to sell my D700 and D7100 :-(.

2.5k and not even full-frame...
You'd sell a D700 for this? Why would you downgrade like that?!!
I would go for Sony a7 R mark II at this price point...

I have one word to counter your point "lenses" - Nikon have a far better range of lenses than Sony.
No, it's not full frame. But there's no full frame camera in this price range that can fire off a 10fps continuous burst for up to 200 shots, never mind with an autofocus system this advanced.

This is a camera oriented towards professional sports and action photographers for whom the benefits of this camera are far more useful than a full frame sensor. Hell, the extra crop factor can even be a bonus for the 50% extra reach lenses will provide. Simultaneously the advantages this camera has over something like a D750 or A7R II are going to be meaningless to a portrait or landscape photographer who will not be trying to keep up with fast moving subjects. It's all about what tools are right for each person, there is no object objectively superior camera.

t's the same price everywhere else so not really a deal. Sounds like a good camera but it's a lot more expensive than the D300s which it replaces.

Lenses? With an metabones adapter all the canon lenses working great on this body. Also in body stabilization allow this to use old legacy lenses on lower iso, which I think is awsome supported by focus peaking..

Don't think the Sony would last as long as this is likely to. I used to have the A7 II, it was a nice camera but not very robust. The Card flap felt very loose and didn't fit properly and and it was very easy to scratch the screen (which didn't happen on my Nikon).

I am selling my D700 for this because this is a superior camera. Just because it is not full-frame doesn't mean that it is a worse camera. The specs and features that are packed into this camera will make it far more pleasurable to use and help me get the shot that I want. I also think that the high-ISO performance will be better on the D500 in comparison to the D700 judging the recent images that I have seen from the D5. In additon full-frame isn't everything, I reach for my D7100 far more often than my D700 even if I am using FX lenses.

Full-frame isn't everything! Throwing aside ISO performance, which the D500 will be great at, full-frame only deceases your effective focal length, which is only good for landscape photographers. Glass will also be cheaper on the D500 in comparison the Nikon FX line-up and you can use all of Nikon's lenses. Therefore full-frame in this instance isn't better.

The D300s is far worse in terms of specs; however you can pay up to £1000 still for a new D300s. So the price difference isn't all that great.

Well the D300s is £779 at Jessops, so it's actually £950 more expensive but I do agree the specs are a lot better. The D500 sounds amazing.

Is it really? Canon has superior build quality to Sony. And all DSLRs are geared up to get the shot; whereas mirrorless cameras just seem to be for those who take a couple of shots at the weekend. You will never see a pro or anyone who is very serious about photography using a Sony. I am not saying that they are bad cameras for the size and portability because I do admire sony; however I don't see the point in sticking a huge L lens on a small body, it just defeats the purpose doesn't it?
