Can't find any mention of it anywhere else, right now, though. Might be worth waiting a little while to see if anyone leapfrogs Amazon's prices, especially local independents.

Hmm, the Terms and Conditions FAQ PDF is a link to one for a Canon cashback deal. Cock-up?
there's more talk of it here:

pretty sure it's not a mistake
*Studio* comparison between all 3 cameras mentioned here:

Doesn't mean that's how they'll perform in the real world, but if you're interested in detail, I think that's a pretty good tool.

Seems a good deal, wish I had the money! Heat added.
Nikon is going to announce D5200 on 6th November so I guess D5100 will be dropping down in price. However this is a great, great camera (I have one with 18-105mm )
Cracking deal, the only reservation I have is a further price drop toward xmas if the D5200 in announced... I may wait a while.
Excellent deal for a brilliant beginner DSLR, note that cashback will be on a pre-paid card though.

If you want an even better combination, forget the 18-55mm kit lens, get the Body Only and buy the Nikkor 18-200 VR II DX (which also has a £60 cashback as per Amazon site), and that's all you'll need most of the time. Alternatively, get one off fleabay, NOTE: VR II (VR in gold) and not older VR (red letters on the lens).

There is also a 18-300 VR which might look more appealing as a single walk-about lens, but there're a lot of negative remarks about it's barrel distortion.

Also to point out, there is no internal autofocus motor like more advanced DSLRs, so it will not autofocus with the cheaper primes like 50mm 1.8 D. Get the "G" lenses if you need Auto-focussing, see this useful table here.

digitalrev.com/pro…A_A not sure this will be eligible for cash back but if it does it will be £330 all together.
How does this compare to the Cannon range (1100D or 600D)?

Not the most scientific, but quite good enough.

That lens is £549.99 before CB, considering the stock lens is only ~£85 I think it's a slightly drastic recommendation for an entry level DSLR!

It beats the 1100D in every regard (aside from the lack of Autofocus motor and obviously price), it tops the 600D in every respect except for the quality of the screen.

Agree, but considering the versatility of the 18-200 and that is the only lens an entry level user will need mostly until he moves on and starts collecting more or changes the camera, I think it is a sensible alternative investment for any DX camera.
Just wanted to let people know about the options, that's all.
Ordered from Currys. At the time was in stock for home delivery at £399.99 including code.

I agree, it's a fantastic lens - and there's no harm at all in making a recommendation

Curry's have a discount code "NIKON50" for £50, the on top you would get £55 from Nikon cashback making the total £344.99, as OP indicated.

Ah missed that.. thanks
smoking, this has dropped £100 in only a few months
Do the lenses from a Nikon D40 work with the D5100? Looking to upgrade, I assume for the extra £85 this D5100 is better than the D3100?

What lenses are they? Certainly better than 3100.
Back to £399.99 on amazon
Currys code doesn't seem to work for me, was going to purchase for what would be £345, an amazing price!! Not a fan of Amazon after a few previous problems.. but if the Currys price drops or a code works, I'm buying!
Finally took the plunge into the world of DSLRs..£345 (after cash back) for this seems a great price.

I actually ordered it when Amazon's price was £409, but gave Amazon a call when the price dropped to £399 and they agreed to refund the difference.

Re the cash back link going to a Canon page: I mentioned this to Amazon and they said they hope to fix the link within 24 hours

That's an import from Hong Kong so you're unlikely to get the Nikon cashback.

I think Currys have pulled the Nokia50 code. Nothing on the website and didn't work for me this morning when I tried it. Shame as Currys would have worked out a little bit cheaper with 2.5% TCB too, but looks like it'll be amazon now!

Currys codes normally expire on Thursdays.
will keep waiting for amazon to get price back down
Bought one last night.

For anyone considering waiting, this link might be of interest, it contains the alleged spec of the D5200 being announced this week. Nothing killer over the D5100 IMO. The comments section of this page claims that Nikon have no more stock of the D5100 to supply retailers, so you might not want to sit on the fence too long if considering grabbing one.

I wasn't aware of that.... from experience how likely is it that another code will reappear? Or shall I just bite the bullet and get it from amazon
Anyone know of a November code for Pixmania? Currently £399.90 plus delivery on there. A code might bring it down and make it cheaper than amazon - or is it best to avoid Pixmania as I'm sure I've read some bad reports about them on here previously. I assume the Nikon cb will still be available if I bought from them?
