This is an excellent deal for someone getting into photography. I know people may moan about the size and no NFC but for the ones just interested in image quality and taking good photos it’s a great price for a good camera

Some professionals still use this camera when they want something light for personal use as it is so good.

First DSLR i owned was a D3200 which i still own. I eventually went up to the D5300 which although a great camera it just didnt have enough for me so i bought a D500 and gave the D5300 to my son who uses it all the time.

For a beginner it's perfect unless you own a D3200/3300 etc as the only real difference overall is the flippy screen.
But it or you’ll regret it.

I have one of these, fantastic cam for beginners.. only a minor difference between this and the 5500 (there was no 5400). In fact, it’s wireless capabilities are better than 5500. Doesn’t have touch screen but not worth spending so much for something like that. Shout if you have any other questions...

I can't see anywhere to add the code at the checkout for collection?
where do I enter the code?

edit: contacted them and told me that the code is for home delivery only, shame there are no items available for delivery

also doesn't say anything on the promotion about that exclusion

Yup, it’s Wi-fi feature allows you to connect your phone directly to and download the pics to your phone (using the official app).

D5500’s snap bridge tech only allows download of files up to 4mb in size which is a no no for me.
Great deal
Very tempted
Superb price. Slightly tempted to upgrade from my d3300, but I know it’s not enough of an upgrade to warrant the hassle of selling mine. Sigh.

Usually Currys apply discount codes at pickup with a screenshot of the web page.
I've had my D5300 since 2015 and it's as solid now as it was then. Awesome piece of kit.
Paid a lot more than this and that's without the accessories. Would double heat if I could.
Agreed with the comparison to the D5500 - few little tweaks, but not with the price hike imo.
Would suggest getting the tamori (spelling!?) lense 70-300 AF V lense for £90 odd.

I own the 5200. Which does't have wifi. Personally, I see wifi as a gimmick. I use an adaptor to plug the SD card into my iphone. Very fast for browsing the contents and downloading pics. I have wifi on my gopro, but I always prefer to plug the memory card into my phone.

Yeah if you want a flippy out screen because when it comes down to it that is about all that is different.

Yes that is also a good option. We've taken our cam on a couple of big holidays now. It's usually my Mrs who likes to upload pictures to social media. WIth the Wifi feature, she finds it very easy to download and share the pics. I wouldn't trust her to take the SD card out every time. Also it's easy to do if you are being taxi-ed or walking around town. The camera's Wifi acts as hotspot rather than needing to connect to another Wifi.

Seconded. I took a look at Nikon's newer D5xxx models, I decided the D5300 was the best value and best fit for me, as an upgrade to my D5000.

Yes, you are correct. Using native iOS, the default option deletes the photos from the SD card when you copy them. Not good in the wrong hands :-(

There's also play.google.com/sto…hot which seems much better than the official app.

The Wi-Fi implementation isn't as useful as I'd hoped (i.e. that it would allow one to upload directly to a ftp, ssh, or CIFS server, or social media), but it could be useful for a photographer using it in a studio or for large group photos - though such a photographer will probably be using a more professional body anyway...
great camera have mine 2 years it has WiFi but i don't use it bought a tele lens for it but the lens it comes with is used most often if i needed a camera tomorrow for the price i would buy this hot
Fantastic Deal! Thanks OP.

Hi , I was looking to buy the d3400 from jessops for over £400 . Do you think I’m better off buying this
I would get this if I didn't already have my d3400. At this price this is a good deal!
Going through the usual dilemma... Will I really use this instead or my phone camera?
Wait for amazon to price match

I guess it depends on how interested you are in photography
Darn, dithered too long...was showing in stock at Loughborough an hour ago but now OOS
My D90 is broken and will cost about £80 to fix, so this is a tempting alternative to getting it fixed.
Not sure how they compare though, D90 was the model up over the D5x00 range, but its so old now that I'm sure the lower models have over taken it.
