Think it comes with the lens as well as 2% Quidco, bringing this package to £871, a cool £70 cheaper

Voted Hot for the vouchers that come with it anyway

I'm sure I'll be that same sucker 2 months later - but that's 2 months of my life and several thousands pictures, so well worth the money

It can depend on what you're upgrading from. What's your current camera?
I upgraded from a D50 18-55 kit - and it's a HUGE difference.

Excellent price - do you know which store this was? Not all of them seem to know about this deal.

This deal was defo available in Exeter, Bristol and Plymouth by the time I posted it - I didn't check other stores. I got the camera from Exeter and they were happy to post lenses (which they didn't have in stock) to my home address. Maybe worth checking with them over the phone to see if they can send it over? Good luck!

400D Finally got the money together to get either the D7000 or a 7D

Brilliant, thanks OP. Just checking for a friend.

What about from D40X ?

I'd go for 7D then and save on lenses. Also, 7D would give you a more "professional" feel, that you may appreciate after owning 400D - coz D7000 is the same class with 400D (in theory), while 7D is a step up (even more theoretically). Otherwise it's not a straightforward choice - unless you know exactly what you need it for. In which case you probably don't need my advice anyway
My choice - after handling D7000 and 7D (kit lenses in both occasions) for 2 and 5 days respectively: sports/birds - 7D, general purpose and especially low light - D7000, video - 7D, "user friendliness" for an amateur photographer (like myself) - D7000.

If my memory is right, D40X was made to chip into 400D's success. Given that the specs were comparable, my comment above (about 400D) would apply to D40x too. Altho I'd go for D7000 in this case for the sake of a) lenses, b) same ergonomics c) money. In a nutshell - yes, I'd upgrade to D7000 if I were a keen amateur and had 900+ spare quid to spend.

And yet the D7000 near enough destroys it in terms of a comparison snapsort.com/com…000

Lenses aren't that big of a deal for me. So I think I'll be going for the D7000, I'll try it on Wednesday to make sure

Hot - shame it's not an online deal though.

Well you can phone up..that's what I plan to do as getting to a store is a little hard from Scotland :P

This is still a hundred pounds cheaper than it's nearest price(amazon) yet its still not hot?

fantastic camera - paid £1100 for body only when it first came out and more than happy with purchase.

Decent price, body only could of been had from the focus show in NEC @ £699.

I hate myself for not getting the body for 699.
Now all I need to hunt for body only deal.

Well, the comparison says pretty much what I mentioned above: each of those cameras have strong sides - and lets not forget they are different class and different price range. But whatever your choice is, hope you enjoy it. Btw, as you're still after a D7000 - check out the deal that I've just posted: same D7000+2 lenses+flashgun (http://tinyurl.com/4qj67o6). It should become a scorcher if only the people of HUKD know anything about Nikon cameras

Different class and different price range yes...but one performs better than the other. And the D300s

That's quite a bit more money than I have. I'd be getting the D7000 with a 50mm f/1.4 or 35mm f/1.8 at first. But thank you as it is a rather good deal! I don't see it getting too hot, you know what the people of HUKD's are like...not under a tenner?! COLD!

Very true!
Btw, one other voucher for this deal is £60 off the 35mm 1.8 lens

Oh god I think its time to lie to my better half. Currently have the D60 and reckon i could get away with buying this and not letting her know I bought it! I did that with my nikon 18-200 lens when I bought it pretending that it was still the same tamron 70-300 i initialy had! (mind you we were saving up for a house at that point!)

I love the fact she knows nothing about technology!

Its also quite sad that I have to do this as need 'permission' to buy something....

Good price. I hope it falls more soon - hopefully they will phase out the D90 and drop the price further.

Emailed the Chesterfield branch of LCE and their best is only £999

Hahaha, totally agree, that's exactly the way I did it - and yes, it's very sad :d

It is very store specific...
The London Strand branch's best price is £979.
Basically, Nikon is doing £120 cashback voucher on NIkon D7000.
The store claims it back on behalf of customer hence reduction...

Anyway, Bought one...
