Good camera! But if one has the extra money, buy the d7500! If not, this one or the cheaper d3500
The D7200 has dual card slots unlike the D7500 if that is of use to anyone.

You are correct, but the d7500 has expeed 5 engine and 4k video recording
Personal preferences. For me it was more important that I have 2 card slot, in case of one card fail.
Picture quality almost identical.
For this price it's a cracking deal. Heat!
The D7500 is better in low light and has better auto focus. That won me over the 7200
I believe this is a full frame camera (careful if you have lens which are not). For that price it's damn good.
3500 is not a full frame camera and and a fairly basic camera for beginnners

The D7200 isn’t full frame, it’s one of the higher end dx bodies.

This isn’t a full frame camera. But it is Nikon’s higher end crop sensor cameras.
Walking into a PC World or Currys found that they have "relegated" their camera section way back inside the shop... And a great Nikon D7200 is selling for less tha £500 where as a 2 year old iPhone still fetch more than £600... Hmmmm.....

If this was full frame why would it matter if you had DX lenses? They are still compatible?

Yes and no. The DX lens will fit but the full frame sensor won’t be fully utilised. A full frame camera will automatically crop the image to the DX image size as the lens won’t project onto the full sensor properly.
As previously stated the 7nnn series is Nikons top end crop sensor (nothing wrong with crop). The 7200 is older than the 7500 (it went 7000, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7500 - not sure about 7400). The twin slot is only really needed if you are getting paid for your photography i.e weddings etc (7200 & 7500 are capable of that quality). Cards rarely fail but if you are that paranoid about it replace your card in your camera regularly. I replace twice a day if I've gone out specifically to take photographs and I have a dual slot (I have full frame, not that makes a difference).

If you use a DX lens on a full frame camera you’ll get a cropped image because the lens doesn’t cover the full size of the sensor

There wasn't a d7300 or d7400.

I didn't think there was a 7400 but was convinced there was a 7300. But, you are correct, the 7300 was only rumoured and it appears it eventually became the 7500. This still leaves the D7200 a good camera in the crop sensor range (again, nothing wrong with crop sensor). Actually, the top end crop is the D500 assuming that is still selling.

I'd question the 'Levels'. I have the D200 and I wouldn't class it as Advanced (not even when it came out) over the 7200/7500 with them being midrange. D500 isn't Pro either although all cameras can be used in a Professional manner. Subjective. D7200 is a good price. I assume it is now being discontinued which is why its at this price. Still nowt wrong with it.

It’s all subjective anyway.

If you want Objective opinion on Nikon kit, nip over to bythom.com

D7200 for under £500!!!!!!!!!! Now that is a bargain but then, if you are in the ,market for this, you already know that. It's the glass that costs. Fantastic piece of kit. Been using it for over 40k shutter releases. 7500 is better. D500 is the top DX and spanks the 7xxx range but its 3 times this price. And there will be more bargains as Nikon roll out their jaw dropingly good Z range of digital boxes. I would spend the extra £250 on a Z50 personally. Faster, lighter, brighter

I really want to get a new camera this year but can’t decide what to get. Wait for the new D780, 2nd hand D850 or go mirrorless.
I take it MP are no longer the selling points on these cameras

Nice dilemma

I had similar several years ago but before mirrorless. D750 vs D800/D810. D750 was cheaper and better spec (in most areas) and came across as a camera that was on its own as it didn't seem to sit between a range - a mad creation. I went the D750 route and haven't regretted it. Still don't think mirrorless is up there in terms of spec and glass and I'm refusing to look at the spec of the D780 for obvious reasons. D850 if you are big into landscapes and/or want to print massive images or crop. Again, all subjective.
The rumoured D780 specs don’t seem to be that much better than the D750. We’ll find out on the 7th Jan.

Never has been. Only electrical superstores use it as the perception is bigger/higher the better. As an example the three top end bodies (D3/D4 & D5 are 12mp (2008), 16mp and 21mp (2016). At those dates there were other non-pro cameras with bigger MP.

Mirrorless
I backed out of Z6 recently; very expensive card, poor battery, few native lenses. It’s a new thing so better to wait if you can. Hopefully prices will come down. Bought a 7500 body only for £650.

bythom.com all the answers

You say new camera but unless you are thinking new camera and new lenses, you will get a shoick.

Mirrorless is the way to go. What you buy depends on budget and style of shooting

Is a great camera now. They lost features moving to the 7500.

You are correct, but the d7500 has expeed 5 engine and 4k video recording

Crap because the expeed 5 engine only helps in latter ISO range. If you are taking pics with ISO 12,500 or beyond you are stupid as the noise level makes an unusable image.

4k with no stabilisation, no thanks always pointless.

20 MP Vs 24 in D7200

Lack of dual sd cards

DO YOUR RESEARCH THE D7200 IS WHAT THEY WISH THEY DIDNT BRING OUT AS ITS BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.
