What makes it better than the canon:?

d80 is almost middle level.
450d is entry level.
D80 better bulid quality.
better image quality.
11 point focus.......
these two is for different customer, but for same price, you should get D80

I'm not convinced the D80 is better than the 450D in terms of image quality, but there's probably not a large difference between them.
dpreview tests: ]D80, ]450D.
D80 doesn't have liveview either, but is probably more customisable in terms of features and probably easier to use (basing this on my use of 450d and D200). I wouldn't say one was better than the other, but this is a good price so voted hot.

I've got a D80 and it's a great camera.

d80 is a stunning camera

I prefer the D60 over the D80. The D60 is smaller and is a much more recent model than the D80 so gets better results out of the image sensor. Cost from Jessops is £292.97 after rebate jessops.com/onl…tml

D80 is far better than D60, D60 is almost worst .
D80> 450D>D60=1000D>D40.
I am Canon 450D owner, I am quite happy about it, I got from boots with good price,
but if same price there,I will go for D80.
and trust me,liveview is not very useful for Dslr, I just changed my mind after trying 450's liveview.

I would disagree, I'm surprised how useful it can be on my 450d, especially using fast primes where depth of field is so shallow, the live view with the focus zoom option enables you to nail the focus perfectly!

Back on topic..... The D80 deal is a good one and if you are considering a mid range D-SLR and don't mind some of the recent bells and whistles, then this is a great bargain..

Thanks H & R Added

This seems a great deal to me, the D80 is used by the Merseyside Police CSI department, and they all rave about the camera.

Voted Hot, Bought one on Friday, just need the 50mm F1.8 now...

clueless

For those that would like to use a 50mm prime lense on a Nikon with autofocus, then you must at least get the D80, it has an internal focusing motor. The D40 and D60 do not have this function.

got one and enjoying it ! Have D60 which was not up to the mark ...

I got one yesterday with 18-135mm lense for £339
