great camera for a good price - hot deal!

hot price I found the argos deal yesterday

out of stock for Delivery so going to cost £779.00

Giz

You cannot get it for this price as it is not available for home delivery.

Great camera, shame the 18-105 is not such a hot lens, but not a bad price all the same.

Bought mine from Argos about a month ago and I have to say, never been so pleased with a purchase. I think the lens is pretty decent, especially for a kit lens when you compare it to the rubbish that Cannon tend to bundle with their kits...

I've just seen that - what do you think - shall I.

Anyone think this will come down in price any more?

same boat as you

Have seen cheaper on Amazon Market place BUT ..............

I also use this site

camerapricebuster.co.uk/cat…tml

They say cheapest was £647.20 but that was on 03/12/2008

Went for it - couldn't hold out any longer. Now to get rid of my d70. Not sure whether to sell the kit lens as I already own a few lenses. That'll soften the blow a bit.

Yes yours is slightly newer. It's been good to me but definately time to move on. Just hope they don't drop too soon. I can't see it as compared to others selling it are really expensive and would think over the summer they are in demand. Not sure - trying to justify my expense.

Just a quick note, you can purchase on 9 months interest free from Argos (with an Argos card and you get a £3 off voucher when your card arrives :)), which is what I did

When I bought it (beginning of May), if you spent over £500, you got 9 months....

Edit: Just looked on the website and does only let you do 6 months - think the 9 months thing might be an instore only offer... Dunno - you could always ring them up...

thats what i was thinking

Glad I went for one now - was a bit unsure. Did you go for it?

missed it

Gizmo99;5409585

I am sure it will be back - or better still at a lower price somewhere. THe pound has gained some ground recently meaning imports should be getting cheaper.

im off to Le Mans next week so wanted it for that

But could be final outing for the d70s

I bought this and then on the way home from work on Tuesday popped into a jessops and ended up buying a 5DmarkII as well.

I have to say as a beginner, the D90 is far more user friendly and easier to get to grips with.

will have a proper play with them both this weekend and decide which one to keep.

Thats one way of finding out which camera you prefer. Maybe you should have hired them out first although slr's do tend to hold their value on the second hand market.

You bought a 5D and you're a beginner in the DSLR world?!

The deal is back on - unexpire moderator

I ordered one yesterday am. Couldn't find this "deal" so I created my own
hotukdeals.com/ite…-c/

I looked over the last few days and it seems to be coming into/out of stock

Actually by using topcashback I was able to effectively save another 4%

I was also offered the "anything happens" "insurance" for 1.99 pcm. I normally run a country mile from these, but at that price I went for it as a backup to my home insurance, whilst whilst it covers accidental damage has a reasonable excess, and any claim would affect the overall policy so seemed like a punt worth taking.

It's now showing as out of stock again. Hopefully mine will arrive ....

I wondered about that too. I'm also a beginner and was thinking that arguably even the D90 is overkill when compared to the good deals on the Nikon D60, Olympus E 4xx 5xx or SOny A200/300/350 -- although I figured I was spending so much between the base kit, lens, case, extras that actually spending a couple hundred quid more for something that would a) last b) be more expandable wasn't such a bad idea.

But the 5D is surely in another league.

I would hope it is for about 1.5k more! Full frame for one... You made the right choice - my mate had a D40 prior to his D90 and he said the D40 wasn't even the same league. I am so pleased with mine - it's a fantastic piece of kit...

Your right - I think you have to contact an administrator.

Great camera - been playing with mine after upgrading from a d70 - It just feels right.

Also bought a D60 before when it was £259 with kit lens but sold it on Ebay after using it for a week - great pictures but didn't feel right and most controls hidden in menus.

It's the D5000 which in many respects is a very similar camera. It is a "cheaper" model, but to be honest has most things people need, and adds a swivel screen & shaves a little weight. You also gain from the longer range of the 18-200 VR lens

If I didn't already have the D90 sat at home I'd be considering that offer. No idea on retailer feedback though

Looks good for the money, especially with the extra VR lens... However, it lacks the second dial at the front and also the LCD screen on the top, both of which are incredibly useful! In my opinion anyway!

actually some research on camerabox suggests you may want to take care. At least some of their stuff is grey import. Nikon have region specific warranties on camera bodies/kits, so Nikon UK/europe will only honour the warranty for eu sourced products.

The retailer will still have liabilities under the sales/goods act & may offer their own warranty, but personally I'd want to have the full manufacturer's cover.

Some Credit cards etc may offer additional cover, but they sometimes have conditions about UK stock (mine does at least).

Note though that LENSES, FLASHGUNS etc have a *worldwide* warranty -- I spoke to Nikon to check -- so it's a lot "safer" buying these even if imported from the far east.

In terms of cameras, the D5000 is a small amount lighter than the D90, and some people say physically it's a lot smaller despite the dimensions only showing a small difference. It has the neat screen. Most useful for low level shots I'd say. But video is quite limited on these cameras so personally I'd wait for a Panasonic GH1 or similar if you need video.

I got hold of the D90. It's not light, but very good. A little more function than the D5000 although frankly little I'd need except possibly wireless flash triggering, and ability to support older (AF) lenses (ebay shopping?). For me with the 18-105 lens (18-200 being too expensive) the D90 was cheaper so it was a no brainer. Probably since the D90 has been out quite a while (so prices dropping) whilst D5000 is new (new premium).

Bottom line is - think about the lenses you want/need & total price. They're both great.

Back in stock, but but now £799 minus £70 with the 70SAVE voucher.
