Manufacturer's Description
Tx Direct Wash-In is wash-in waterproofing for wet weather clothing. TX Direct Wash-In adds durable water repellency and revives breathability.

How Nikwax TX.Direct® Wash-In protects

Nikwax TX.Direct® Wash-In is the market leader. It is easy and quick to apply in a washing machine, and its highly Durable Water Repellency (DWR) develops on air drying. The washing machine application ensures that the treatment goes right through the garment, treating seams, tapes and cords, as well as the fabric. Also, as the need for tumble drying is removed, this saves energy and protects more vulnerable, older, garments from heat. Nikwax TX.Direct® Wash-In has been specifically designed and optimised for breathable waterproof garments; it leaves a flexible water repellent treatment on individual fibres allowing moisture vapour to pass through, maintaining breathability.

Use Nikwax TX.Direct® Wash-In in a washing machine:
For best results remove all non-washable parts and always clean item(s) first with Nikwax Tech Wash® in a separate wash cycle. No need to dry item(s) before waterproofing.
- Remove all detergent build up from the detergent dispenser- Place maximum of 2 clean garments in washing machine- Use 100ml per garment- Run 30°C synthetic cycle and slow spin
Do not machine-wash garments if taped seams have become dislodged.*

To maintain waterproofing always wash with Nikwax Tech Wash®. Do not use detergents.

NOTE: They do also have 25litres available at £122.38 which works out at £24.48 for 5 litres but 25 litres does seem a bit of an excessive size unless of course you are re-proofing an awful lot of clothes!!

any good for Kevlar jeans?

TBH I really don't know...I usually use the Nikwax Tech wash for washing outdoor clothing which have "coatings" on them and then use this TX for re-proofing the clothing every so often and when used in combination the two seem to work quite well.

I'm right in thinking that Kevlar jeans are the ones that bikers wear amn't I? If so I don't know if the Nikwax Tech Wash would be powerful enough to remove the stains that may be picked up while biking as it's quite a mild detergent. The only thing I could advise is Amazon have an ask a question facility on the item page and you may be able to get advice from other buyers of the Nikwak TX as to whether it is suitable for re-proofing the jeans.

There is also more information on the Amazon page about the TX product as I just picked out a selection of the key features from the description....so sorry I can't be of more help.

can this be used to waterproof garments that aren't waterproof?

I don't think so but not 100% sure....there's a lot more information regarding the product on the Amazon webpage and most of it seems to be about "re-waterproofing" implying that the coating is already present....hope that makes sense.
