Nikwax TX.Direct Spray in Waterproofer, 500ml.
Normal price is £8 online (£11rrp) for 500ml of this waterproofer, which is designed for waterproof clothing that has a liner fitted, rather than a wash in product ( although that's on offer as well)
Or, in my case, to re-waterproof my built in rucksack cover!

This will do between 2-4 adult jackets (Nikwax recommends 300ml for 1-2 jackets) depending on condition of clothing.

This price at Millets and Blacks, but Blacks allow a click and collect for £1, (not sure if this price is in store). Both Millets and Blacks charge 3.99 for delivery.

Both also offer 6% TCB.

Note:
Amazon currently is out of stock of this at the same price, but price history is here:
uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Nik…wse

Has a shelf life of 4 years, so grab 2 bottles for next winter as well!

What is the difference between TX-Direct spray-on and TX-Direct wash-in?
I've just washed in some clothes with TX-Direct spray-on and they seem fine.
Are there any differences beyond the spray jet?

Wash in is for clothes that have no warm fleecy insulation, and using it in the washing machine ensures it gets "everywhere".
TX.Direct Spray on is (I believe) a slightly different formulation and is designed to be sprayed on the outside - if clothing has a wicking liner, you don't want that waterproofed otherwise it will ruin the wicking capabilities.

TBH, I've not thought about just spraying TX.Direct Wash In onto any fabrics and see what it's like ( I've got 5L of the Wash In stuff, could give it a go).

Ditto!
Avoid. I used this on a water resistant soft shell jacket before going camping, hoping to make it more water resistant. Instead it turned it into a sponge with no water resistance. I've had better luck with Fabsil products which do actually improve water resistance rather than worsen it.

This isn't designed for SoftShell, but hard shells. Nikwax do a SoftShell version specifically:

I don't own any soft shell stuff that needs re-waterproofing, therefore never tested it.

Out of curiosity, did you wash your jacket before applying? You may have just sealed in the dirt.

I've heard some good things about fabsil, but not used it ( I'm still using that 5L of txdirect washin). Looks like Fabsil is 400ml for £5, but I don't know how much that will cover

Yes, funny lot on here ;-). It might go cold yet!
It's all about the research and marketing spiel for those that don't quite know what it is. When I posted this, it was explicitly the tx.direct spray I was looking for, which doesn't isn't a rebrand of something you can get for significantly cheaper under a different name like tech wash is.
Just what I was looking for and far cheaper too. Thanks for posting
