The Nintendo 3DS is a portable game console produced by Nintendo. A distinguishing feature of the system is its ability to produce "3D effects without the need for any special glasses" via a process called autostereoscopy. The 3DS succeeds the Nintendo DS series of handheld systems, which primarily shares the handheld console market with Sony's PlayStation Portable. The Nintendo 3DS features backward compatibility with Nintendo DS series software, including Nintendo DSi software.

Damn! I thought nobody caught on lol

I traded in stuff and got one out of Cex today with Street fighter. Have to say, I like it. Not mind blowing, but not a disgusting let down like the original DS at launch either!

Sold my 3DS and got an iPad 2 - much happier with the pad!

Thousands complain Nintendo 3DS gives them headaches and dizziness

Good price, heat added, don't forget that little bit of quidco too!

I think with all these headache issues popping up, the whole 3D TV thing without glasses has been hit hard in the industry if it affects using it on a small screen like this!

There are no real headache issues, they have been blown way out of proportion. A lot of people have not given the 3DS a chance. Any eye strain does not last long.

this has been up on ebay over a week now. good price but cheaper offers keep cropping up

I think most retailers will settle at around this price for a while now, at least until some competition comes in in the form of the NGP. Good price for an amazing piece of kit, and probably the best price we'll see for a while, so I'm voting hot.

£180 at my local HMV (Putney).

Shocking battery life for a "portable"

Really? Have you got one? I've been using it since launch and found the battery life to be pretty great, streetpass sleep mode especially seems to be able to go on and on and still leave the battery at 100% after a few days. If you leave a game in suspend mode rather than exiting out of it when you've finished playing then you'll drain it faster, mind.

Comparing it to the original DS/DSi/XL then yes, the battery life is shocking. Not so bad when comparing to the PSP though.

I had a 3DS but sold it. Im hoping for getting a DSi XL soon on the cheap as I prefer the larger screens and the 3D doesn't do that much for me.

Maybe I am a simple person but I felt like I'd been ripped out of the 1800s when I first saw this. It was like the Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus in the palm of my hand. Priddy magical shapes floating like ephemeral mist on the table in front of me. I needed slapping three times with a wet fish before I regained self control.

Sorry, went off on one there. Screw the headaches - it's worth it. Good price (though I'm sure it'll drop soon).

A really fun console, but couldn't Nintendo have made the 3D cameras a higher resolution? Even 3-4MP would be great.

I like the 3D camera facility a lot though. Stretpass is also fun but I wish I knew what the range is, and also how long it needs to be in contact before it swaps stuff. Anyone know?

That story is ripped from The Sun (nice of them to acknowledge the source, btw)... welcome to the world of churnalism: who cares if it's BS, so long as it fills pages!!

The chap talking about getting a DSi XL:

Will they release a non 3d version of 3DS games? I mean Zelda, MGS and Resident Evil primarily?

Cause these are the games I got my 3DS for

Just turn off the 3D slider mate. I didn't really have a problem with the 3D when the slider was adjusted. My main grip for it was the battery life and screen size (not everyones - just mine).

If it had the power of the NGP then I'd accept a 3-4 hour battery life. a 5inch+ OLED screen with a Quad Core processor would demand such power. However, it is more similar to Gamecube/Wii graphics so the battery life is a bit of a let down.

Im going to wait for the DSi XL to hit <£100 and get it for the excellent back catalogue of games and 10+ hour battery life

Save your wonga until some decent games come out.

steetfighter is good and ghost recon is excellant

As I said sold mine, but to chip in on the pros and cons:
- Main pro: its pretty amazing to play with, especially the augmented reality games are sensational.
- Soon some really cool games will be coming out, zelda mario etc.
- Main con: maybe it was all in my head (ha) but it game me headaches and eye strain. This was really the killer blow, as it makes the gadget less a thing I will use and more an interesting powerful thing to show off to people, which is all I was doing with it.
- As has also been said, battery life is fairly crummy.

Pretty much the same thing here. All the neat little extras are great to show people but I just feel you can't pick it up like a DS and session it for hours :P

Shame it's a piece of crap. Spent £188 on mine and regretted it a day later.

Nothing to do on it after the initial fads are played with and shown off to others, then you're left with p*ss-poor games until when..? June?

Biggest regret of 2011. Oh well. It's only money.
