This will be £99 soon. It's rubbish. Soon they will come out with the 3DS XL

I really like my 3DS. I play ridge racer and street fighter 4 a fair bit, usually on my way to/from work.

It won't be £99 soon.

followed by a 3ds lite

I am going to wait until Zelda OOT is out before I buy one and expect it to be £159.99 by then by the way things are going. It was overpriced from the beginning considering the ancient tech employed (apart from the 3D screen).

Are GAME still taking pre-owned ones for £180, anyone know?

the way Nintendo are developing games these days I wouldn't be surprised to see them release Jet Set Willy 3D, Horace Goes Skiing 3D and Pong 3D before too long (all £40 of course).

Wow a lot of hate for the 3DS here!
Guys if you don't like the 3DS, then don't post comments in 3DS deals. It's getting old and boring seeing them in every single 3DS deal posted here (just like the onkyo joke). Also as for those waiting for a 3DS lite, there won't be one. There may be a 3DSXL but it will be at least 2 years away.

As for the deal thats a great price for the 3DS! Probably the best at the moment! Voted Hot!

So what you're saying is people should only post comments that are praising the product featured in the deal? We have a right to express our opinions.

I, for one, am interesting in hearing what people think either way.

Good thing the hype went down quick, guess everyone knew it was a gimmick, stick with the DS lite.

No what i am saying is if you don't like it, then say why. Don't just go into a 3DS thread with comments like "this is rubbish it will be £99 soon" as that helps no one. If you say it's rubbish because..... then that will help others here out.

Not too sure about Street Fighter unless you can still beat up a car? That's the closest you'll get.

Thats true.

We need constructive comments such as the reasons why one should/should not go out and relieve themselves of £179.99.

LOL Game were selling these at the Gadget Show for £189.99 and that was a show special.......:D

I agree they will be £99 soon and then I might look at one. (not for long to avoid headache)

Waiting for a less fugly redesign, and ~£150 at most. And hopefully one that is more power efficient or has a higher capacity battery.

I doubt they will get much smaller like the original DS to DS Lite, they are around the size of a DS Lite/DSi already.

Not when I wrote that.

I love the comments about sticking with Ds. This is a step up graphically, aside from the 3D.

The DS Lite was a homerun buy, for me and my girl. Really wanted this, but since I have got to buy two I am holding off for now. Tried the DS the other instore and it was dissapointing to be honest. Played Pilotwings and the 3D was not impressive and the graphics overall are DS like, can't even compete with the PSP. Ofcourse this is a launch game, so I hope they will up the ante in upcoming releases.

oh my... another repeated post

Bored of people moaning about the price and waiting for a 3ds lite/xl

The price of electronic stuff always comes down, laptops, ipods whtever. We know that, no need to remind us.

Electronic stuff gets updated. we know that too. New models, different models, updates. It's not just the DS or 3ds.

£179.99 is the cheapest i've seen this, I'm pretty sure that makes it a deal by hot uk deals standards?

Yes, traded one in yesterday which I got for £189.99 with Super Monkey Ball, got £180 cash, could have got £190 credit.. this offer is only on for another week afaik. Meant I got SMB 3D for less than a tenner.

I've had my 3DS since launch, love it, play Ridge Racer and Pilot Wings regularly and have picked up 25 Miis on my travels (picked up 8 at Gadget Show live last week) with the streetpass function, and nearly rescued myself .. I have 3D turned off while playing on the train though. Battery life is the only poor thing, but got a USB charger to charge it at work if I need to, I'm used to charging as I have an iPhone

Ha Ha Ha. Not.

The weird thing is that people would prefer the 3DS if it didn't have 3D as it's apparently a 'gimmick', just as analogue sticks, online gaming and motion controls were all gimmicks at one point.

This is more than a DS with a 3D screen, it's a big step up in almost every other way. Although I must admit the launch games were pretty damn poor.

I think those hoping for a big price drop in the near future may be disappointed.

The problem the 3DS has at the moment is the lack of decent games.

Once we start getting nearer to christmas and decent titles start appearing the demand for this product will increase.

One thing that has surprised me though was nintendos decision to only put one analogue stick on it, especially given how much stick the psp got over its lifetime for only having one.

I must admit I'd like to see a 3DS compatible model with only a 2D screen, the price could easily be £99 and the battery life would be huge in comparison. I'd still be wary of spending £40 a game so that would probably put me off.

However I don't think the normal 3DS will be £99 for christmas. Christmas is exactly the sort of time these will sell as parents buy it for poorly informed kids who just want it without careing about its limitations.

Also when Mario 3D comes out many of us who are resisting now will probably cave in and buy one. Whatever its limitations the 3DS is more than capable of a brilliant Mario game.

Well to add my experience I got a black 3ds, with discount cost me about £170, got pilotwings, ridge racer and also nintendogs for her.

I was amazed by the 3d, really was better than I expected, however the games line up is a bit poor as usual for launch games, aswell as battery life but I knew all that before I bought it.

After a couple of weeks of play though I have decided to get the cash back for mine. The 3D is very impressive to look at, however we found it irritating while actually playing games, the so called sweet spot is far too small, only takes a very small movement left or right for the screen to become a blurry mess so I just ended up turning it off. Personally I wish they had sacked the 3d and just used all that processing power to make some good looking games, my other problem is the 3D camera, although its fun for 5 mins the quality is so naff its all a bit pointless.

that aside the console is very nice, dont understand the ugly comments, I think it is gorgeous in black. The analogue stick is essential and is a far better design than the psp one, so as a console they did a good job, easily worth the price considering the tech inside it, I just dont dig the 3D.

I will definatly buy another one when they are a lot cheaper so I dont mind not using the 3d as that is why it costs so much at the moment! Those of you saying it will be £100 at christmas, no chance! This is Nintendo, the Wii and various versions of the DS all held there price for a long time and I am sure this will!

Amazon have price matched.

The handheld market has moved on from £30 games. A major issue is that alot of people have an iPhone or iPod Touch, and now iPad and are used to dipping in and buying games at 59p, £1.19 or £2.99.

3D on a sub 5 inch screen with a 3 hour battery life just doesnt wet many people's appetite.

The vast majority will never be put up at RRP and very few consumers buy at those price points. When was the last time you met someone buying a 360/PS3 game for £50?

You're right about Mario/first party titles though - as with all Nintendo consoles they'll likely be the driving factor behind a vast amount of sales and ultimately prove the console's true worth\capabilities.

Good luck finding that for any console, but i do know that retailers denied the claims made by a tabloid rag that there were record returns.

Returns are recorded by Game, HMV etc, they have to be for inventory and stock purposes. The figures will never be released and to be honest a console can be returned for many reasons. That isnt my argument.

My argument is that consumers are getting used to the Apple model of 59p and £2.99 games and not £20-30 portable games, something which in your comments you kind of agree with by saying "who buys things at RRP", indeed why buy games on the DS/PSP when there are equivelants available cheaper.

If you want to gauge the success of a console look at how many game sales there have been. It's a new console and as such games should have sold in huge numbers as the buyers are exited for software.

I understand your logic but i'm not sure i agree. The range of titles at present is limited and there are no more than one game in any given genre, thus game sales will not adequately reflect success of the hardware. I'd also disagree that the devices you listed offered similar experiences, they are fine for casual gamers but the lack of dedicated input technology means they will likely never be on the same playing field. The price also usually reflects their small scale nature, the larger games that offer a more refined, console-like, experience are generally significantly more expensive than the 59p/£2.99 variety.

If consumers were truly becoming acclimatised to the Apple/Android model as the way forward i'd wager the 3DS wouldn't be selling as well as it is and the NGP wouldn't be gaining such attention. As much as people continue to liken mobile devices, the markets for the different devices - similar to those of PC and consoles - are sufficiently different for both to exist and be successful.

i agree with the people saying itll be 100 quid soon , just look at nintendos record , first they make it bigger or smaller , then they add a letter to the name , dsi and now 3ds , then they put the price up to over 200 quid again which is essentially the same piece of hit , ill say around christmas there will be another version of this

The 3DS is not merely a revised DS as the other versions were though, it is a different format altogether (albeit with obvious similarities). Unfortunately Nintendo are doing little to inform the gaming public of this fact hence why so many are wrongly under the impression that it's just essentially another DS. CPU, GPU, display, input and interface have all been changed.
