Depends on your hurry, I got an Ice White last year, but it was some nice deal on Rakuten - 25% points back, with Super Mario 2 I think (download). bought Pokemon Omega Ruby for £7 (was £32, with -£25 back from rakuten), and then a promotion from nintendo, got zelda download
so ended up getting 3 games for £107 -

Personally I think I'll buy the new XL if it comes anytime soon. but I'm more than happy with this 3DS so far...

I have a Yoshi themed 3DS XL and an original blue 3DS. The matte plastic finish on the XL is very nice. However, the XL screen is bigger so they blow the resolution up to fit the screen, which means stretched pixels galore (in Pokemon Y I can’t even play for that long as the weird blurring gives me a headache). I prefer the original 3DS.

Luckily I got a 2ds with Mario Bros 2 preloaded for £72 after using a £15 off code and £2 clubcard, in November. But a 3ds for £80 is pretty good.

Chanchi32 said about the same code in the comments .

Good deal

The screen resolution is exactly the same on the XL, so no stretching will occur, the image is simply bigger.

and how do they make the image bigger if it's the same output on 3DS and 3DS XL?

Just move the XL further away from your eyes if the picture is too big. Most people prefer the bigger image.

Screen

A few have mentioned screen quality is poorer on the XL and some have said its poorer on the 3DS but this is only in certain games not completely across the board.

The 3D angle on the XL is wider meaning it can go out of focus easier than its predecessor with the smaller screen.

There is no difference in image quality between the two. One is bigger and one is smaller. It makes no difference to the game play. (This isn't the case with certain games)

Both devices have exactly the same colour count. The XL resolution is stretched on the top screen from 400x240 to 800x240 (Required for 3D) this is what causes some games to look terrible.

The only other comment/advice I can make is put yourself in this situation, you watch a film downstairs on your 50" TV you watch it again 1 month later in the bedroom on your 32" TV. Did it effect the film at all ? Your going to enjoy the game play either way.

XL is the one to get but dont forget the NEW 3DS is out soon which is why this is cheap most probably.

As far as I can tell the only real difference between the new 3ds and the older 3ds xl is the new 1 has another button that can be used to really small movements on certain games, an extra button on the top each side plus a browser, not sure that is gonna be worth the extra premium in price it will most likely command

the pixels themselves are bigger.

XL has a horrible image quality for me so i stuck with the OG model, with hori wheel grip. the new 3ds is slightly larger which is ideal, but i won't buy it unless there are comparable grips.

so good deal, go with the OG and get a grip like the hori wheel for a great 3ds experience.

Tbf, 32 to 50 is a pretty big difference, but obviously not as big as (say) 32 to IMAX screen. Either way, it would affect the viewing experience for some

This has gone down to 79.99. I put the code in and as a new customer I still got another 10pound off so I've paid 69.99 in total. Pick up tomorrow :-) x

I play all the Mario games on my 3DS XL inc. Mario Kart. 3DS XL is deffo better and screen size not an issue, is easier to see and play and less strain on my eyes compared to 3DS. This is like buying a VHS recorder, most of us have now progressed to DVD or BLU RAY.
