Relive the 80s when the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System launches in stores on 11th November. The classic NES is back in a familiar-yet-new form as a mini replica of Nintendo’s original home console. Plugging directly into a high-definition TV using the included HDMI cable, the console comes complete with 30 NES games built-in, including beloved classics like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN and Kirby’s Adventure.

The Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System comes packaged with an HDMI cable, a USB cable for powering the system*, and one Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller. And whether it’s rediscovering an old favourite or experiencing the joy of NES for the first time, the fantastic collection of NES classics included with each and every system should have something for all players.

Each title is sure to bring back fond memories and produce plenty of new ones. Players can even enjoy playing many of these games together by attaching a second Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller, sold separately. A Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro for the Wii console can also be used.

Players needn’t worry about losing any hard-earned progress either as each game has multiple suspend points, allowing them to start where they left off at a later time, no passwords needed.

Can't wait for this

if you cant wait, get yourself a raspberry pi, a nes emulator, a joypad, and use that?
why not just dig around the attack and get the old nes or mega drive out... recycle and reuse besides don't think this has duck hunt..
how is RRP a "deal"? its already been posted cheaper than this elsewhere...
how is this a deal, this is the most expensive of all the deals posted for this and as wanye said sure this is RRP!

£47 at ShopTo and I think you can Flubit for free from Amazon/GAME/Base to have it dropped to £44ish.
The emulators are never quite as good as playing the original with the correct controller. I think they have done a brilliant job on the design here. If only they could do something similar for other consoles? I'm sure Sega would make a killing if they brought out a well designed mini mega drive/CD

It doesn't and the VC version of Duck Hunt doesn't really work as well as the original NES.

Sega's out of hardware business so we ain't gonna see that, not even for a special occasion.

I agree and as this is an emulator running nes games it wont be any better. yes it looks nice but in essence its just an emulated system with limited games that cant be expanded.

Yeah it's a shame because the Dreamcast was actually a decent console and it had some brilliant games too.
This is RRP. Though to be honest I would happily pay more than RRP to not have to deal with Game.

Dreamcast again...

Yes, I bought one at launch and supported it during its entirety, buying games, accessories and the like, a seriously great console...BUT. I get the feeling the majority who bang on about it didn't support it likewise when it required it or rather too late to matter, otherwise why would sales have been SO low? The masses are like sheep, buying either Sony and Microsoft in spades but slagging off Nintendo for doing something different, aiming at a different audience. Well, with Pokémon GO, Nintendo always winning - perhaps not the battle - but the war.
bit miffed there isn't an RGB/scart output on this. Any ideas how to get 15khz out of this thing?
Ignore this and get a Retro Freak Premium from Play Asia - you will thank me later when you can play over 10,000 games in HD with original controllers instead of just 30...
I don't why people are getting so excited about this, your limited to 30 games, no internet or SD card, you'll get bored sooner or later, I'd rather pay more for expandable item & get months out of it rather then weeks!

So £161 for a console that lets you use original controllers and mix them with over 10,000 games playable across 11 retro systems all up scaled in HD or £50 plus another £7 for an extra controller for 30 games.

Seems like the real snip is the Mini Nes

Think I'd rather just go the retro pie route than either of them tbh.

Famicom Design Retro Freak

Close enough?

You can do that too and I agree that is the route you should go rather than the nes thing however the retro freak is perfect because it is plug in and play and I like that is is like a proper console. It is nice to have under my TV with all the different controllers and it is a premium over an android tablet. Either way the mini classic NES is actually quite a rip off and IMHO a collectible novelty.

Or Everdrive for NES which costs about £89 (not inc. SD Card) so you see, Mini NES is somewhat better value because it's cheaper and produced officially by Nintendo.

That was produced by AtGames who did a lousy job (overall very mediocre product).

Or get both and carefully strip out the electronics inside and use the shell as your raspberry pi case.. There's a guy on hukd that has done exactly that but with the original bulky nes and has provided pictures for those without imagination

Aye, it is the novelty and the cuteness factor, I suppose as well if you aren't a fan of rom downloading (be it form a legality or practical viewpoint) you are all above board and what not with this as it is released by Nintendo.

It's not the Dreamcast owners who didn't support it, it was the lack of buyers overall. It didn't help that the Sega Saturn was an absolute disaster beforehand either.

That's the point. The fact this is made by Nintendo and it has a great design quality is what makes this

Personally I'd rather get the old NES out the closest. Unless you have to blow on it - it's not gonna feel authentic!

That was sort of my point. Sorry if it got lost in the waffle. Basically, people who don't buy either great console and/or games, only when it's too late jump on the bandwagon. Talk is cheap - as I prove daily.

But this is not good value in comparison and no one knows if the emulation is even good. Everdrive will also only play one or a few console sets depending on the cart you get and doesn't give free updates for life. Retro Freak will take your cart games or roms from an sdcard. Alternatively yes strip a pi and put it in a nes.

Dude, I think you're so fixated on what's best from a tech standpoint that you're missing the point here.

This is probably aimed more at people like me (I've already preordered) who like the games presented but aren't hardcore into retro enough to comparatively spend a load of money/time on something else like the options you list and would rather just plug in an official product and go. (Especially with the feature about suspend points in games.)

Plus on top of that it's about design and novelty. This is a pretty cute little thing and will look nice next to the other stuff we have with taking up too much room whilst being a fun little novelty thing.

As for how good the emulation is, who knows? But let's face it, it'll most likely be playable and decent if it's an official product.

So basically, yes there are other things that are better from a technical standpoint for being able to play everything, you are totally correct but that's not really what this is marketed as to be fair to it. This is probably more for people like me or even more so, my SO that just want a little of their childhood in a small and simple package whom aren't really into retro stuff in a big way and so aren't willing to spend the time/money on other alternatives.
