oO

Looks like RRP to me?

$59.99 USD to GBP = £45.01 we always get screwed a little so £49.99 sounds about right.

Looking forward to SMB3 though

Is this the only one available for pre order atm? Im not sure if Gameseek are good?

Ah just found it at Gamecollection for 49.95 thegamecollection.net/nin…tml

Do they take the money now or at release? Never preordered with them before

better off buying a Wii and soft modding it.

1. Can you add more games?
2. How big is it?
3. It connects via HDMI but what format and resolution are the games?
4. What's actually in it? Is it just some cheap horrible android machine like the Neo Geo X?

Like the way the nes controller can be used on wii too. May just buy one of those instead.

If only twas a snes!

US MSRP is without tax so with (UK 20%) tax its $72 which is £53.

That will be next, make no mistake. We will probably see a mini classic N64 as well, I bet.

1. No one knows right now. I think they missed a huge opportunity by having no card slot. They then could have sold mini NES cartridges replicas with 30 games a piece.

2. It can fit in the palm of your hand.

3. It is no doubt going to play in the same aspect ratio as the classics. Hopefully, the scaling will be as it is with PSP games on Vita. Where the resolution is exactly so many times more than the NES original and so we won't have any nasty blurring.

4. No one knows but some are suspecting that this may be a repackaged Wii, which already has official emulators built for it via VC. Very possible Nintendo has dropped the Wii to a lower process node and then without the huge disc drive in place are able to achieve such a small size. The Wii mini was small already, and that was with a disc drive.

I like retrogaming but it's just far too easy to play these games and more on an emulator i'm afraid. Nice novelty value I guess. Wonder if it will offer a Scanline option for authenticity...
I was always a Sega Master System fan myself, I didn't know anyone with a NES. I'm guessing this will sell better in the states.

Yeah with emulators readily available this seems a bit pricey for what it is. If they had one that emulated snes games and offered them a pound a pop I think I'd really consider buying one.

This is not available / released till mid November

Any one know if they take payment now or on delivery?

Cool! I'd be reet up for a SNES one!

A little screwed? You don't realize that in America tax is NOT calculated in prices so $59.99 will actually be closer to at least 10% more and some states even higher.. so say $66.00 which according to google is currently £49.47

Being manufactured by Ninty I wonder if this will be emulation or similar to the original hardware.

Also I am sure some WhizzKid will hack the storage device so we can inject custom games on it (some how).

ESD safe?

Nostalgia only. My.son will get one for Christmas just because he is so obsessed with the NES (He's 11 and Autistic)
For the same money a raspberry pi and usb controllers enables all 8bit and some 16bit consoles plus arcade classics such as outrun.

And I still haven't finished outrun despite managing it in my final year at school 28 years ago...8)

Well overpriced for what it is.

50 ? no thanks

I'd love a new version of the zapper and Duck Hunt as an option on this. If they don't work in a way to play other NES games/your virtual console titles on this, it will be beyond stupid.

Wow this is expensive.

So much better getting a pi zero & throwing retropie on it. You can get two usb snes style pads for £5 on eBay. Pi zero £5, ac adapter £5, case £3.50. Assuming you have a spare hdmi lead £18.50, if not £19.50 & you can also play tonnes of other retro games from the snes & megadrive etc.

Nice to see this announced, I hope it's a success so Nintendo release a collection of them - would love to see a range of Snes, N64 and Gamecube Mini Classics too

Knowing Nintendo this will be 50Hz in PAL territories. They're still doing it with VC releases, I can't see them changing tact here...

Might be best to get an NTSC version, or just mod an old Wii and use the controllers from this.

yeah but lets think about it, not perfect emulation via various emulators vs Nintendo being as picky as they are that they wouldn't release sub par emulated versions of SNES games on the old 3ds because they weren't perfect. I'd pay good money to get perfect emulation and that little box and pad. plus it's probably going to be worth something if you keep it tidy over the next 20 years

Not arguing with your overall message, but I think you missed off a Mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter, and a USB hub with microUSB on the upstream side, and I think your pricing might be a bit off when you include shipping. Just in case anyone was thinking of following your otherwise entirely reasonable advice.

Edit: And MicroSD card...

Fair enough, sorry, just did it myself for my eldest's room (he loves retro games more than modern ones) but I had a lot of odds & ends in my spares box.

Getting one when it comes out as some amazing games most which I have on my wii u and 3ds virtual console but it would be nice to own this and play with an nes pad instead on 3ds and Wii u controlls nice item for my collection
