Asda selling the new Nintendo DSi for £125 in-store (seen at Dunbar store today). Don't know how long this deal will last. Price is at least a tenner cheaper than other reputable sellers.

Cheers.

Amounts to a free accessory pack after having to choose a game from a limited selection....hardly much better value.

The dates are on the back of an Asda living leaflet I picked up last night!
Its from 13th-19th October inclusive!

In my opinion, the DSi should have been a direct replacement for the DS anyway. They should have discontinued the DS and replaced it with the DSi at the same retail price. The extra features simply weren't worth the extra £50.

I used to think like that untill i was bought one, now I dont agree,
1. its only £30 more than the ds, yeah rrp £150 but easily had for £130,
2. bigger screen,
3. Much better menu,
4. camera & software,
5. Sd card slot
6. DSi ware games
7.Slimmer & lighter
8.Louder speakers
9.brighter screen
10. longer Stylus

The DSi rinses the DS, untill you actually have one you wont appreciate the improvements! they are just much nicer to use!

I actually have used one. It simply didn't impress me at all. When the DS Lite was slimmer released it was much smaller and lighter than the original DS, came with a significantly improved screen and ergonomics, Nintendo ceased production of the DS and replaced it with the Lite for an acceptable markup (5-10%). The DSi was a small improvement with a significant markup (30-50%).

1) Even £30 more is still an unnecessary increase to the RRP IMO.
2) The screen is only 10% bigger (6mm diagonal) and the same resolution. It's not new technology and the only real change was an extra brightness on the backlight.
3) I never, ever use the menu. My DS is set to boot directly into games.
4) The camera is pitiful and only really of use to send low-resolution shots to other DSis. My £20 camera phone takes significantly better pictures.
5) The SD card slot would have been useful if it supported things like MP3s directly. As it is, it's currently of limited use and resulted in GBA and 3rd party addon support being dropped.
6) So far the number of DSi exclusive titles can be counted on hands without requiring the use of either foot.
7) Thinner, but taller and wider, 3g lighter.
I use headphones, so speakers don't really bother me.
9) Shorter battery life.
10) Never had a problem, if I did then I could buy an extendable stylus for £2-3.

There was so much Nintendo could have done. I would have been sold if the camera had been in the megapixel range, the SD slot had allowed for flexible media playback and the WPA support worked with all games, but they failed to deliver on all of these.

We have 3 DSi's in out house and my kids love the camera, even if its only to take fun picture!

We've never had the DS but we got our kids the DSi's for there birthdays recently, they love them, sending messages/photo's to one another, distorting the picture's they take. Its a lot of money to be spending, but i'm glad we spent a little more on getting the DSi's for them. Been money well spent.
