Nintendo discounts are always disappointing. People shouldn't even bother posting them on HUKD

Not from the deals this week, but Golf Story, Rocket League, Minecraft, Stardew Valley and Steamworld Dig 2 (all digital) are amazing games any new Switch owner should look at.
I'd agree Thorandor and add fast rmx racing to that list

These deals are particularly bad even for Nintendo's standards!
I had no idea Fear Effect Sedna was about to come out until I saw this. The marketing for that game can't be too great then...
The wait for Stardew Valley continues

I've not long got a Switch. I am in for a long wait I assessment?
I expected nothing and yet am still disappointed.

I think because it is so popular and has been selling well in the charts, that they will not drop the price.
It is bad business to drop the price of something that is selling. Only when sales slow or stop.

And to be fair, for it’s fantastic reception and it’s quality, £11 is a pretty fantastic price.

But yea, I’m also waiting
Either that or I’ll buy it when the Nintendo rewards discounts finally kick in.

I think the point is though that Playstation and even Xbox run frequently better discounts than Nintendo offer.

For instance I got Axiom on PS4 and Shovel Knight on Xbox both for next to nothing (£2-3 each) whereas the Nintendo deals are max like 20-25% off.

I've had a switch for 6 months now and the only game I have bought digitally was Golf Story, and even then what was only 25% off.

Hopefully once there is a deeper selection of games discounts will be better but I am not holding my breath.

I got all of them for around 30-40% off,
I'm not saying nintendo are historically great at offers (I would expect men in white coats if I had)
but considering the lack of titles on the switch and the fact that all the games I mentioned are relatively new (on the switch anyway) they aren't doing too badly on the switch digital store, so far........

Which is a bit ironic considering the main thing people remember from the previous games was the marketing:

I think so ,I've had mine since Christmas and only purchased 1 game from the store that was on offer (NBA Playgrounds) . I'd pay the full price as it's supposed to be an amazing game but I've got such a backlog of stuff to play I'm happy to wait it out

@ziggy93 Also waiting for the reward thing to come back as I missed out last time

I had a look at the store earlier and though who buys this poo “/
It's a real shame with Nintendo discounts as they rarely ever discount their own games such as the virtual console games
Hi all I know this is a silly question likely but the little red scratch codes my son gets in his 3ds games. We have loads... what are the codes for? How do I use them? Many thanks
Not even a special sale to commemorate the Switch's launch anniversary, quite disappointing. I think Nintendo has only had one single first party game go on sale in the e-shop to my knowledge this entire year and that was ARMS with a measly 10% off (was still way cheaper from online retailers after the fact) I really hope their subscription service entitles us to some decent sales or I'm not bothering, it's not like I play many online games on Switch.
Thanks for posting @Thorandor
Super Ping Pong looks like random mindless fun for £2.49. May be worth a flutter.

Hi there. If you are referring to the cards that are printed to look like presents, sorry to tell you they are codes for a deprecated loyalty scheme so can no longer be used. If you or your son are likely to sell the games, though, keep the cards in the box as given a few years (or more than a few maybe) some games can become quite valuable, even moreso if you have original pack ins like those cards, warranty info and such.

The new loyalty scheme is called My Nintendo. If you Google it and sign your son's Nintendo consoles up to it and link his account he will get coins for each game purchase and they can then be used for discounts against games and even some freebies.

NBA Playgrounds any good?

Read good things about it since the major update they had last year
Deep discounts can hurt publishers if they aren't careful, purely because the sales spike only lasts for a limited time and it's much harder to get people to pay a higher price point after the sale is finished.

The Switch eShop has only just finished it's first year - so to expect deep discounts, when games are already selling well in general, is a bit of a pipe dream. Nintendo will never do a deep sale of their own first party releases, unless there's a major change in company culture - it devalues the brand and trains gamers to wait for sales.

There's a small but growing opposition to deep discounts and I don't believe it's good for the gaming industry in general anyway - speaking specifically of 'race to the bottom' pricing strategies.

tl;dr - from a business and marketing perspective

Thanks, I grabbed it. Not sure it’s my style but seems good for a bit of local multiplayer.
Overcooked is my go to choice for that though, best co op game I’ve played in ages!
