Hardly. It's not a lifestyle.
My ex before my last two girlfriend's played games with me, it was great. Something we could enjoy together.
She wasn't a "gamer" or a geek even.
Those that followed didn't, and were less easy going too.

I enjoy playing games, even though I barely do these days.

Tried to get them to play games and they just weren't into it - too close minded or whatever.

And it sucks.

Same with cycling. In fact my ex who I tried to get to game in vain, was also totally frightened of cycling around town. So couldn't enjoy that with her either.

So yeah, being in a relationship with someone that doesn't want to cycle is a no go too.

But with gaming and geek merch you've got the added component/test of the person being uptight, particularly mainstream, or judgemental.

They don't need to be into gaming, but it turns them off you're likely going to have a crap time with them in the long run - at least I would. Likely someone that isn't easy going, open minded, and certainly someone I can't enjoy something that I enjoy with.

Getting too old to waste time with that. All that time I wasted with ex I could have been out meeting even a full on gamer, or a proper geek, and someone a lot more fun.

Around 50% of "gamers" are women. And geek culture is popular. Geez, so much so that plenty of people fake it or casually assume it these days - like people wearing Nirvana t-shirts when they don't even listen to grunge.

I don't even wear any gamer merch etc. But I'm strongly considering getting some nice Zelda t-shirts or something more obscure and wearing them out just to weed out / or draw in better people. The judgemental lamers will give me a wide berth, which is a good thing.

Anyway, this is a good deal, a good saving on the normal price, which is the only requirement.

And I think it looks decent.

If someone takes issue with a lamp like this, then I take issue with them, and they're likely not someone I'd ever want to share air with.

Cheers OP, good find.

I thought the controller coming out of the thing was ugly, but then I saw the PSX monstrosity above.

Sorry, but that is severely ugly and makes me think your house probably smells like cheetos.

The box alone looks amazing haha

Unless the girl is also a gamer, a geek, or laid back and doesn't care - all of which are good things

Geek merch is a great way to weed out stuck up lamers

To reference your username, a bit like watching South Park with a girl. If that turns her off she's clearly no good. Likewise for girls wanting to meet a guy.

Not really these days. Edited my post to add South Park.

It's like wearing a decent looking Zelda t shirt. Could meet another fan that way. Or they're cool and don't care. If it's a geek turn off, they're likely a stuck up priss that would give you an aneurysm if you were ever in a relationship with them.

i was reading this mentally preparing for the undertaker to throw mankind off hell in a cell, but no, just a calm, passionate defence of a lifestyle that really does not need defending - that is definately worth one of my likes.

Why do some people feel the need to be complete dicks on this site when something that isn't for them is posted? Let people like what they want. It doesn't affect you in any way.

The lamp is really cute OP! I'd get it if I had the room for it.

Judge not, lest ye be judged, Mr Cheetos.
Nothing wrong with judgment, it is a lack of it that gets us to where people are stretching out adolescence into their thirties, forties and beyond.

Imagine spending your life worrying what other people think of you to the point it affects things you might otherwise purchase.

If we want to get into the “adults being kids” mentality we could delve into football “passion” and wearing sports kits... but then the other difference is how you perceive it and what you enjoy.

You do it to, it is just the people you are concerned with are different than the ones I am. The people that buy designer clothes are broadcasting a message, just as those that buy a Zelda t-shirt are - they are both concerned with what others think.

You don't understand scripture. It doesn't mean don't judge people, it means don't judge unless you are willing to be judged yourself. I strongly doubt people that claim to be non-judging are, they just don't want to be judged for their flaws; they're happy enough to judge others for theirs, if it is something they happen to dislike. Non-judgmental people don't exist.

You denigrate religion (probably just Christianity), which is judgmental, but support people building shrines to Square-Enix and Hollywood and worshipping those instead. You are judging, just differently from me, that's all.

Awww, the poor Christians.
I'm an equal opportunity offender, m8, all religions are fair game for ridicule.

So let's take a look at your actions:

Alleges someone's house smells of Cheetos because of a lamp they built.
Quotes scripture to imply someone is childish for their chosen lifestyle.

I can judge to my lil heart's content, I'm not a Christian.
And I judge you to be a poor excuse for a Christian that cherry picks their own scripture and twists the meaning of others to avoid looking like a hypocrite.
Have a great day.

Save the religion of Namco/Hollywood and never-ending childhood, that is off limits for ridicule. OK, Mr Pan, that's your lookout. The lamp was ugly from an aesthetic point of view, gamer or not. Adults that makes shrines to their adolescence are childish, that isn't so much a judgment as a statement of fact.

What has Namco and Hollywood got to do with anything?
Who's building 'shrines' to them?

And it is a judgment, that's not how facts work.
Thanks for playing, you don't seem very good at this game...
