Still scarred from buying Turok for the N64 for £65 in Blockbuster.
£80 for two games is never a deal. Cold.
Not everyone played the games initially on Wii U... and I've had a lot of fun playing them for the first time on Switch. The prices could/should be lower but it's only a major problem if you've owned them before on Wii U.

That's an argument that you could throw at literally every other previous gen remaster. But they don't retail for the same price as a current gen AAA game.

Mario is a 6 year old bare bones port.

There's no way you can EVER justify that price. Not on HotUKD.

You could make that argument and it's very much up to the individual what they are prepared to pay for a port. Nintendo aren't forcing anyone to buy... just get a different game. If you've owned Mario Bros. U before then I don't see any reason why you'd buy it again at full price.

I'm not justifying the prices but you are getting a TV AND handheld experience and it feels like two games in one, especially if you're on the go a lot. I own a PS4 but I don't mind paying extra for the same game to have that luxury.

I paid £25 for Mario Kart 8 on eBay and I tend to wait until every Switch game is discounted until I buy, but each to their own. And one of the games here can't be a called a port as it's a lot different to the 3DS Smash Bros.

I thought that was money well spent tbh.
The console dropping from £310 to £185 within 6 months, not so much.

Not got a switch atm mainly because the games are expensive and I've played a lot of them on Wii U...Sure i want to play Mario and Zelda but i'm in no rush.

I remember my mum complained to Nintendo about that at the time and they sent us a free controller + Lylat Wars. Must try Turok again when it goes on an xbox store sale

Can get Zelda on the Wii U, was being sold for £10 at Asda at one point, was lucky enough to get one myself
As I come from an era where paying £60 for a snes cart after months of saving up all your pocket money, then I see no problem with 2 great games for £80

Jammy get!
I'd left school n it was my first big purchase from part time work.
Arm and a leg back then on a kid's wage.
I had to pay £72 for Star Fox 64, plus £45 for the converter; thankfully the console came with Mario 64, so that ended up in the back of it.
Halcyon days, when CEX stood for Computer Exchange.

Ha ha... Just check out some of these comments. In a world where AAA games routinely go for £15-30 a few months after release, we're seeing a few blinkered gamers who are hellbent on wearing their nostalgia goggles - all in the name of justifying Nintendo's rip-off prices at a time when the market has obviously changed.

Yeah... Nintendo are so innovative that they peddle the same game every generation. And charge AAA prices to boot. Now that.. is "innovation".

A case of emperor's new clothes me thinks...

Yeah... I remember when people used to pay top dollar for black and white CRT TVs. Maybe you want to pay £500+ for that then. Or over £1k for a 486 PC.

Unbelievable straw-man arguments here...

A few people lol? Nintendo has just announced they shipped over 20 million Switch's in the last financial 4 quarters. It's breaking all records as it's the only platform where you can play Nintendo's exclusive classics. Smash Bros sold over 6 million copies in 2 days. I have a PS4 as well for great non Nintendo games. What's the problem?

Not just nostalgia BS. These Nintendogs (yeah that's what I call them), also defend the Switch not having the most basic features. A messaging app for example. Even the original Wii can message friends.
Both are ACE games and are very well worth their price.
Heat to OP for this genuine find that will help many.

If most XB1/PS4 games drop down to £15 a few months after release, aren't the stupid people the ones who buy those ones on release?

These Nintendo games hold their value for a very long time, so getting any sort of discount on them is, in my opinion, a deal...
