Definitely check in store, I ordered the correct new one to collect at argos from their website and guess what they brought out.... The old one, I had to send them back to the store room....

IMHO if collecting, collect from one of the larger Argos store, as Sainsbury collection points or smaller Argos stores inside Sainburys, often only have stock sent as needed, therefore you won't be able to ask for them to check stock for the red box version.

How can you tell which is the right box, please?

The new box has all red background.

AVOID anything with the £30 voucher code on the box or the Fortnite packaging, just go for the red box as shown above.

Lovely, thank you.
Just picked one up from Bolton - the all red box is noted in OP pic is the new model - anything with the voucher or fortnite sticker is the previous model
This is a great deal, just £51.99 more expensive than the Switch Lite and is a much better product at this price at least.

Mario's fire bombs added!
Is the screen better, too? I’ve heard it’s brighter.

I take it the one previously on offer with the Mario deluxe 8 is the new model?

Unsure, maybe, or it might just be artist impression as devised by the Argos marketing team... But check the official Argos site for the same bundle photo.... I do know that the console can be bought with a choice of a game for £299.99
Edited by: "Just.Wondering" 5th Sep 2019
Can tell people are panic selling their old Switch now, I picked one up for £180, yes it’s not the new battery but at that price I don’t care to much

I saw the thread with the snes games, so am thinking of getting a Switch Console - for 2 people are there any advisable accessories that i should buy with it?

I'm an old man, new to gaming - I do have Amazon Prime membership, so i think registering for that Twitch thing would be good.
Is there any ongoing costs with online gaming?

Still peanuts, to me at least

£72.31 for a bigger screen, auto screen brightness, rumble HD, replaceable controllers, dockable and compatible with all Switch games. That's a bargain to me!

Give it a bit of a shake. The new one is a bit heavier.

It's 'different'. Not better. Not worse. But the battery and cpu thing makes the new model the better choice.

There's a hand holding the switch on the old box too.
Any deals on the red & blue?
Ordered for Xmas for the kids (me really 😬)

Just the Switch Online membership at £17.99 a year (but is available cheaper from sites like CDKeys) is needed to give you access to the SNES games. (Only needed after your 12 months runs out from the Amazon Prime offer though) No other ongoing costs.

I’d say get a Pro Controller but that is entirely up to yourself. These will be available to buy soon too but you won’t be able to buy them until you’re signed up to Switch Online. mynintendostore.nintendo.co.uk/cat…668

Yep I know. I was just responding to their question about ongoing costs which would apply after the Prime offer runs out. (Have updated my comment to make it clearer).

Nobody has played the SNES classics through Switch Online as they aren’t out yet.
Damn, I literally just bought the new one last week.

The reason mine was so cheap was it didnt have the box (can buy off eBay for £10 no big deal and it would just sit and take up space in my loft so almost a win) and no Charging Grip, but I already bought one for £5 so again no big deal, got a bargain as I will likely only play it docked and the difference in two hours of battery life has not bothered people for the last two years so as a casual player I should be more than fine.

That's fantastic, thanks very much for replying.

I'll take a look at the pro controller - we have an Xbox 360, so the transition to the Switch played on the TV will probably be easier with this controller.

This dude panicked that it wouldn’t hold value due to a fine scratch outside the screen, as in it is on bezel surrounding screen, as they slided it into the dock poorly, I understand but doesn’t phase me, I’ve got a nice tempered glass protector waiting at home
