Man, I see videos like this... And that £280 price-tag just seems a tad too pricey - especially given the hardware's value proposition.

Now factor in the fact that Resident Evil 7 is not coming to the console, together with games like Nioh and Nier Automata etc, and that £280 pay wall for Zelda just seems a tad too extortionate for my liking.

Am I missing something? Every mention of the console seems to include Zelda as the selling point for it, but it's being released on the Wii U too

WiiU only lets you play on your toilet (if your in range!) where as the switch version lets you play Zelda on whatever toilet you want!

I think the wii u has ceased production now?

With regards to the Switch, it's sad ythat it's so expensive. £200 seems reasonable for a last gen tablet.

The games should at Least be heavily subsidised, apparently the rrp is £60!? Nintendo games take ages to drop in price too.

When you consider the New 3DS XL is still selling for £160-£180 on the internet and it's very old tech then this doesn't seem bad for a 'newer' Nintendo piece of hardware, even if it's dated. (_;)

I I got the pearl white last week £169 amazon. Loving dragon quest viii/fire emblem birthright and ocarina of time.

£250 at Christmas including Super Mario Odessy and I'll think about.
Still, £60 for a decent controller is a bit hard to swallow.

£439.99 for 2 games and the controller. Its a joke.

I'm not even going to bother asking the Mrs. Don't have time to play the PS4 these days let alone another console. I think this will be a hit but might wait until Christmas when the price drops or the deals are slightly better. There is no rush I guess unless you want to be the first kid on the block with the new toy

Currently easily available for £55 but BASE had it for £50 for a short period so it'll probably float around that price which isn't too bad.

Apparently the joy cons in the joy con grip is actually surprisingly good as a 'normal' style controller.

Going to pre-order and then wait till closer to launch to see what happens. Prefer the grey compared with the red/blue too.

I'm having an internal struggle of whether I should sell my Animal Crossing 3DS XL in order to purchase a switch in hope Nintendo then abandon the 3ds for this reason. 3DS + £100ish seems reasonable to me. I only have 4 or 5 more games on the 3DS I want to complete until I'm done with it.

Yeah I Dnt know why the red and blue is more indemand, personally I think it looks tacky compared to the grey controllers

No, you're (kind of) right. The Switch itself is palatable, but the games man... Knowing Nintendo, they're all going to cost a premium. And with the cost of accessories thrown in, that whole eco-system just screams "rip-off".

I'm just going to get Zelda on Wii U for £40... And given that Sony and MS have ample third party support, as well as a whole host of great first party titles... it just looks more and more unlikely that I'll even consider wanting to invest in the Switch platform.

I know that everyone and their grandma bought the 3DS for Pokemon, and it kind of shows as the handheld only has an attach rate of around 4, but I don't see the situation changing all that much for the Switch - especially if the games are going to cost that much.

For the price of a standard Switch game, I'll be able to get about 2-4 really good games on competing consoles.

That's the thing... Nintendo games never drop in price as the company is really conservative with production numbers. Add to this the Switch also not likely to drop in price, given Nintendo's history with the Wii U, and the Switch overall just screams bad value.

I get that people like NoahsDad will argue that Nintendo aren't a mainstream company - even if Reggie say that they are - and that retailers won't support the Switch as much because it isn't a mainstream product, that but is some serious mental gymnastics going on, where Nintendo zealots love divorcing themselves from reality.

See, that's the thing. People are criticizing Nintendo for their anemic launch lineup, and whilst fans might argue that one only needs one game per month, what they don't seem to realise is that for less money, and given the established userbases and libraries of Sony and MS platforms, Nintendo's competitors are getting Nioh, Resident Evil 7, Horizon Zero Dawn, Nier Automata ALL DURING THE SAME LAUNCH PERIOD, where the games are more appealing to gamers on the whole, and where they cost less.

Zelda is also coming out for the Wii U. For a semi-decent price.

Given that one is going to need £400+ for last gen experiences, that Nintendo tax sure does end up looking incredibly unappealing, no matter how one spins it.

There are so many games on the Wii U that I want to play........but can't justify the cost of that console. However, I see this is quite similarly priced - can it play the Wii and Wii U games? If so then I might jump in and give it a go!

Nope will only play Nintendo Switch games which are on memory cards not discs.

Think of it this way... A typical Nintendo Switch game is going to cost £60. A typical Wii U game costs around £15-20. Imagine how many Wii U games you'll be able to play for the same price, and where they won't look all that different from the Switch - especially as it's only a tad more powerful than the Wii U in the first place.

Bit harsh calling it last Gen. It's clearly more powerful than the Vita which is the most recent handheld, and so you could easily say it's a 'next Gen' portable gaming device.

Problem is that everyone will compare it's graphics to the PS4 and XBONE despite the fact that it's rather difficult to play those consoles on the move.

Nothing is confirmed if Nintendo will release Wii U games on the Switch. But look at Mario Kart 8 it's the same game as on Wii U but with some bonus stuff for the Switch. If they will have Wii U games on the e-shop maybe, but looks like they will be doing special editions of Wii U games at pretty much full retail = £49.99 for the Nintendo Switch version. Just be a port with more features, most Nintendo releases on Wii U keep value of around £20 to £30 second-hand so expect them on the Switch with bonus stuff for at least £49.99

I see the portable point but you'll still have to carry a charger around with you. Remote play is viable as portable gaming and steam offer something similar?

sick burn
to insult someone on an elevated level; to put someone down to the lowest; usual victims of a "sick burn" will be the guy in your school who tucks his plaid shirt into his pants and clips a cell phone on his belt

a good way to know if you've been sick burned is that whoever has burned you will immidiatly shape his hands like two guns and immitate blowing the smoke off them on at a time and will say in a baratone voice : "sick burn", possibly with a clever smirk on his face.. you must have a mustache and a red leather jacket to sick burn someone
Bobby: "Hey Jimmy, wanna go for a ride"

Jimmy: "Yeah,.... on your MOOOMMMM.."
Jimmy: "Oh.... sick burn"

It's definitely on the pricier side, as virtually every new console has been since forever. I think I even paid about £250 for my Wii originally, and that always had terribad graphics compared to the other consoles in the generation. At least the switch is half decent in that respect (thanks mostly to the slowdown in tech improvement).

The K1 is an odd choice though. Always had a reputation for heat and bad battery life even if performance wise it was one of the best (two years ago).
