Nice to get a single post for these. Worth noting that they are even cheaper on the South African eshop which is really easy to purchase from (I posted a guy somewhere below).

no apologies necessary dude. we're just having the usual "giant post vs. individual posts" discussion, as is customary whenever there's a sale on.

great first post btw, I've added a link to the NintendoLife post containing a complete rundown of all the included sale items. there's some absolute tripe in there, but a sale is a sale!

Ah so they're the price of any other consoles games normally then.
To buy from S.A. (works with many other countries), do NOT bother with creating a second account like some might advise. Instead go to this site and under User Information > User Profile, change your region to S.A.
Then on your Switch go to the eshop, it will ask you to enter your password again and you'll be in the S.A store. Select a game and choose to pay the exact amount (if you buy extra credit you will lose it when reverting back to the UK region). Just pay using a fee free card if you can like Revolut, Monzo, etc. then once the download has started you can switch back to UK. Your game will play just fine, same as a UK version.

Edited correct website in.

the only problem is that there's more deals than they've highlighted in their news post (which is what this deal is based on).

see the recently posted "Slain" and "Retro City Rampage" posts, for example.

they reduce so much, and in such quantities, that it's nice to highlight the choice picks imho.

You clearly haven’t been on the PlayStation or Xbox store.... they certainly seem to the mythical Nintendo tax added too

That's true there are more titles but OP can be edited rather than people making 50 different posts. I went through all the titles myself and most are the same that were already discounted for Christmas, it looks like they just added a handful more and called it a new sale.

god bless 'em. much better than 80s/90s Nintendo, with their insane price gouging.

Can u kindly elaborate how to purchase from SA eshop! Thanks
How is 1-2 switch still going for £27.99?! That’s crazy. It still needs at least £10 more off if not more.

I don't think that forum is particularly accurate though. Sure, some AAA games release same price as consoles but on the whole most AAA titles are on discount for the PC immediately.

I remember when Assassins Creed Origins came out and everyone was paying £50+ for it and I picked it up on day 1 PC for £23.
Bought RL for £9 on BF! Should have waited, seeing as I have barely played it :/

Even if you only consider consoles, titles on both Xbox One and PS4 end up dropping significantly in price but not on the Switch. Somehow everyone seems happy with this, some sort of Nintendo immunity coming from God knows where. Horizon Zero Dawn and Zelda BOTW, came out pretty much at the same time, the former can be bought right now for 16 quid on PSN. Meanwhile a deal with a £30 Zelda would get crazy hot on here, that's a bit silly.

There is no law that says titles have to drop in price, it's purely a publishing decision. Nintendo clearly believes its IP has sufficient value that drastic price cuts are unnecessary. If you don't agree, then don't buy. Simple!

Don’t you need a South African address for the Revolut card to work?

Nope, it doesn't even ask for an address. Just enter your card number and you're golden.
Thanks OP, these mega posts are very helpful as the eShop navigation is pure pants.

I’m fine with Nintendo games holding their price. I can buy at launch knowing it’s not going to be £20 cheaper two weeks later and they hold their value for trade in.

Some titles don't drop in price though. It isn't universal that non Nintendo console games get heavily discounted shortly after release.

Monster Hunter World still isn't cheap. And Nobunagas ambition sphere of influence has never gone below 20 on Steam despite it being several years old now.

Pricing is a publisher-led decision on Nintendo consoles and has been that way since the Wii U. Ppl may have better results complaining to the various publishers about their product pricing decisions Nintendo has a different pricing strategy for their brands and business-wise, it works. They condition gamers not to expect more than a certain level of discount because they treat some of their games as premium products. Like you'll never see Apple give deep discounts on iPhones even on black Friday or boxing Day.

I like cheap games (which is why I'm on this forum) but I reject the race to the bottom pricing expectation because it's not sustainable. There's also evidence deep discounts don't help overall sales over a longer term period.

I rather have a sustainable video game industry than have one which expects AAA titles to be priced below £20 within 6 months of release (not necessarily referring to you).
Rocket League was 23p cheaper on the South African site. Every penny counts sigh

For reference GoW has been £22.50 on PSN, despite reviewing even better than everything in this sale and being released in 2018, as opposed to being a remaster of a game from 2014.

Right. Don’t understand your point. PSN and Xbox have some decent sales as does Nintendo and ALL charge way way too much for new releases digitally.

I own all three consoles and to say this say puts games at same price as PSN or XBMP is nonsense.

22.50 isn’t a bad price for such an awesome game this soon. That deal will have got great heat as it deserves.

Ah good point too. Another reason why race to the bottom pricing is bad. Loot boxes haven't given the video game industry good things other than high revenues and bad press
