Order from Amazon and you get a bonus kit.
Great concept, no need for this price for some printed cardboard and string however...

Sure it’s Nintendo tax, however will likely buy into it when the price comes down a bit.

This could have been a game changer if they charged a little for the app and provided printable templates to recycle the mountains of amazon boxes we all get!

Thought someone had to be the first to post :p, good thing is they both have price promise, half the stuff I pre order on Amazon is usually cheaper due to it, I have pre ordered it all although will probably end up cancelling the robot kit, to be honest I just want to mess with the piano.

Just screen protector 6.99 allegedly, could have thrown in the 8.99 customisation set.

Any seen price so software only?
Big fish, little fish, cardboard box

Thanks @Robert_Ryding for this I watched the announcement last night and it brought a smile to my face. Possibly because I didn't expect what others were unrealistically expecting. I look forward to seeing what else they do with this before I take the plunge.

If they can get the Virtual Console sorted out and get some media apps added this console is going to just go from strength to strength.

It also includes a game cartridge, build instructions, details of what you've made etc.

I'd also obviously like it to be cheaper, but, compared to spending £XX on loot boxes and micro transactions for skins etc, it's still of good value IMO.

Don't think this is the robot version doh
Just £60 for some gimmicky cardboard crap. Classic Nintendo..... geniuses
Just the weirdest concept I’ve ever seen for a game. Be interesting to see if it works once the novelty wears off

Well if the accessories were made of plastic say, it would cost a lot more the £60.
I'm all for this game. Gaming has become repetitive. No new ideas.
Nintendo have always been innovative. Go through the history, the way we play games now has a lot to do with things Nintendo brought out.

But, you but it knowing exactly what you're getting. I don't see the issue, you buy it it, or, you don't.
Only £13 more than Breath of the Wild, which isn't that bad when you think about it. Yes, BotW is one of the best games ever, but it is a relatively cheap release for them on the Switch as the bulk of the game had already been made and released last gen.

This is more than just cardboard, there's been countless hours of engineering put into this thing. I think it's amazing, and far less then I expected them to be charging considering the RRP of standard Switch games.
$69 in the US.
£59.99 over here.

And people still vote it hot.

Neat idea though.

Yep, Nintendo have made so much stuff standard in the home console market.

The D-pad first appeared on the Game & Watch
Game saves were first used in Legend of Zelda
Shoulder buttons first appeared on a home console with the SNES controller
The thumbstick was first used on a home console with the N64 pad
The Rumble Pak popularised rumbling controllers

Sure they've had some flops like the Virtual Boy, Power Glove and ROB, but they're not afraid to try new things. If supporting this means their games must cost a tad more than their competitors, then I'm fine with that.
So i showed my kids the labo reveal this evening and tbh they thought it seemed cool.

...but I know my kids, they’d mess about with it for a few days then no doubt a bit of cardboard will be torn, crumpled or something and of course I’ll hear the usual “it wasn’t me!” from all three, then it’ll be £60 down the drain.

another thing im nervous about is the fact they’ll have to use the joycons like ‘proper’ toys, I’m already jumpy when the kids take the switch out of the dock and are just playing with it normally; let alone having them shove into bits of cardboard to mess around with - tbh my kids aren’t that careless but imo the joycons are really fragile.

i dunno, the jury’s out... maybe if entry was a little lower like £30 I would take a punt but i think im going to wait and see how Labo pans out...

$69 is around £50. VAT is 20%, which on this would be £10. Add the two together.

I forgot how bad the exchange rate is now.

I was expecting £49/£59 for the two kits TBH.

Apparently the designs are being released for free, allowing you to print your own spares. Or you can buy more (they'll be sold separately).

No
I read the description, looked at the pictures, and I'm still none the wiser. Looks interesting though, which is always good
This will be in the recycle bin in 2 weeks with my neice & nephew, plus they'd get bored of it fast, at least minecraft you don't have to worry about paper waste

seems more like a schools thing, let them deal with the cardboard and broken switches when they ineviabley fall out of the cardboard when the kid sprints across the room to show you what they made

I must be blind. I've looked on app and desktop but can't see. Just says about pre order guarantee.
My 10 yr old daughter's face lit up when we watched the promo together.

I've pre Ordered and we'll have a whale of a time building it and playing around with it.
You've got to applaud them really, they're always thinking about something new. I like the concept, real life crafting impacting in a video game and encouraging real social interaction and engineering. It's got a kind of a Lego vibe aswell, it might work, who knows lol
