Isn’t this the RRP?
RustInPeace211210/07/2019 18:59

Not a deal but RRP (Real Rip Off), the Lite is $199 and also £199????

The UK price is £166 plus VAT. £166 = $207. Hardly a rip off considering the US market is far larger with less consumer regulations. The US does not include sales tax in the price, it is not Nintendo or any other manufacturers fault the UK has 20% tax.

Exactly, sick of these 'deals' at RRP. Notice that Nintendo consoles and games seem to be the main offenders as ppl post them just because they are popular and know less well informed peeps will just vote hot on familiar things.

As to the console, while I like the idea of a lower cost Switch, the discount over the normal one isn't near enough considering how much you lose with the lite model, not least of which is any TV connection option and therefore the option of higher res on some games and even the option to play some games at all (some games are only playable in docked mode). This model should have been £150 not a penny more.

This 'deal' should freeze, hit that cold button everyone....

It’s $199. I’m hoping it’ll actually be closer to £179.99 RRP for UK, hence this being the very opposite of deal.
Its nice to draw attention to this new console but thats RRP. Should this really be posted in deals?
Oh wow didn't realise they were bringing out a lite version. What features do you lose on this compared to the original please?
Bit expensive considering its 200 dollars.

It’ll be £199 usually tech is same in dollars and pounds. Look at iPhones and PS4 there all the same pricing.

Nope. Just checked... it is £199.99. So whilst this is RRP (which still isn’t a ‘deal’) it’s also a massive rip off given how many features are being dropped and almost none added (d-pad and any others?). When you can pick up the ‘flag ship’ model for £230 on a good day... this just seems so poor in comparison.

I can dream though
American press release prices match the UK prices usually because the US price doesn’t include their sales tax as it varies from state to state.

Yeah, I literally just checked and corrected (?) myself... although I’m pretty sure the PS4 comparison is wrong. IIRC it was $399 is the US at release and £349 in the UK. Although I might be wrong, I’d have to double check. EDIT: Checked and confirmed.

Non removable joy cons, smaller screen, no hd rumble, no TV output or kick stand. You can hook up normal joy cons, but requires you own or buy them separately. Makes games like mario party almost unworkable. On the plus side the battery life is longer! To be honest, wait for another eBay sale and pick up the "full fat" switch for £30 more, and gain more flexibility.

These will sell when they do bundle offers with the new Pokémon games, just like with the 2ds.

The standard Switch is $299.99 (before tax) in America and £279.99 (with tax) here.

This is just Game jumping the gun. Nintendo don’t set the RRP here in Europe so everyone needs to hang fire and wait for the other retailers to start their price wars on this, like they do on every console release.

Never heard of VAT then Also in the USA you have to add their sales tax on top.

I still don't get what the dock actually does - you can achieve the same result using some USB-C adapters (which I assume work with the Lite - time will tell).

Wouldn't be surprised if they do one with links awakening considering that was handheld. I like the look of this lite but they've sure dropped a lot of features, primarily being able to dock on telly
Non-removable joycons...
If that doesn't signal any alarm bells.
FTR, I've had one replaced and other is beginning to drift.
Not how i imagined vita 2 to look like...

I suppose the nay sayer in me would say its a switch that doesn't switch

These would be good as an additional switch in same household eg for children, if price was considerably lower than standard switch
It's supposed to be 165 quid. According to the articles I have read. Maybe 199 with a game.

Lol. Of course. See above comment re price difference on systems like PS4. Although, I accept the economy was a bit different then.
Yeah, this is definitely too much when the original/bigger/better version pops up on here for only £30-£40 more

All of the rumble haptic feedback in the controllers

As far as I am aware they only said there is no HD rumble. In that case it may still rumble using a cheaper rumble system like third party switch controllers use.

You can't dock it to a TV though and the motion controls that rely on the IR sensor won't work (what labo uses). It does sound like you can still use seperate JoyCons though. It is just the attached ones that won't have these features (although I don't know how you would pair them without attaching them to the console).
