The console for gamers on the go. Nintendo Switch Lite is a compact, lightweight addition to the Nintendo Switch family, with integrated controls.

Nintendo Switch Lite supports all Nintendo Switch software that can be played in handheld mode. It’s great for people who have lots of opportunities to play outside, and also for anyone who wants to play online or local wireless multiplayer with friends or family who already own a flagship Nintendo Switch console.

As a dedicated handheld gaming device, Nintendo Switch Lite does not support output to a TV.

Features:

  • It’s easy to take your favourite games with you: Nintendo Switch Lite can play all Nintendo Switch software that supports handheld mode. If a game supports Joy-Con functions such as HD rumble, IR Motion Camera and Joy-Con motion sensors, some features will not be available using Nintendo Switch Lite alone. Joy-Con controllers (sold separately) are required to use these features. For games that do not support handheld mode, players can wireless connect Joy-Con controllers (sold separately) to Nintendo Switch Lite. In these cases, users will need to have a device to recharge Joy-Con controllers, such as the Joy-Con charging grip. To find play mode compatibility information for specific games, please refer to the product packaging or Nintendo eShop.
  • Link up to eight consoles for multiplayer: Local multiplayer - Players can sync together up to eight Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite consoles to play competitive and co-operative multiplayer games. Online multiplayer - with a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can play with friends far away and players around the world, access a growing library of classic NES games with added online features, enjoy exclusive offers such as Tetris 99 and Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers, and more.
  • Three colours to choose from: Yellow, Grey or Turquoise.

But that also means you get a good pre owned price for the games when you sell them.
The renowned 'drift issue' puts me off buying one of these consoles. At least with the original you can buy new joy cons.

Agreed. I also think it's a shame that the Lite version limits the scope of games to play (you can't play Mario party on this with your mates can you?)

Lol really?

This should quite clearly be seen as a separate deal. Especially as people won’t see the one with the original price any more.

Yes, although I do wonder if it has been grossly over exaggerated and in reality only affects a very small percentage of consoles....? Although I was always put off by the stories of loose joycon connections on the original Switch.

I think you can because you can connect other controllers to it but wouldn’t be able to play it on the tv only on a small screen
I believe in miracles and my biting point is £99

The original switch took about a year to have drift problems.. this console is too new to say if it'll also have problems, but according to Spawn Wave on You Tube, the materials used to make the controllers are exactly the same as the original. So in theory the lite also will be prone to it.

I'm tempted, but the price of games does seem a tad crazy. Where do you do your trade-ins? I would like Mario Odyssey but current price seems to be around £43, with CEX paying £21 cash on trade-in. I appreciate that means only paying £22 to play it, but...well, actually now I've properly thought about it...BOUGHT! )

Ebay. Never CeX with nintendo games.
The switch lite gets triple the use compared to the original switch. A great portable console.

It'll be a good price........once it can be jailbroken....
To be fair it's still good given you can run all of the virtual console/etc games on it with a Nintendo subscription.

I'm sure it'll drop closer to £100 in future at some point but I suspect you'll be waiting a long time before it's on sale for under £150 so might as well grab it now if you want it.

This is not an issue (for 99.9999% of people). If you play it 12 hours a day, every day for 4 years you might potentially get a slight drift on one of the joy cons. It's been massively over dramatised, just get one bought and enjoy it 😁

I'll probably wait a year or two and see if their is an issue with the lite. The fault on the original is so common that someone has sued Nintendo in the US and they are fixing them for free even after the warranty runs out.

Very true!
I’ll stick with my jailbroken PS Vita and 3DS for now. Still loads of gaming life left in them
I was going to get the lite, but after looking into it more, in going to get the bigger one instead, just a shame theres no stock anywhere!

Good price for the lite though.
Getting one as soon as RetroArch is confirmed and stable. Switch Lite feels nice in my hands.

There has been some changes on the Lite to prevent this.

It is however still an issue just not as frequent.

Not true at all. I played mine a couple of times a month and when playing smash used GC controllers. Hardly ever used the joycons and my right one got the drift just after 1 year even though it was barely used. Just because you didn't get it doesn't mean others don't. It's a very real and serious issue Nintendo are not fixing properly. Sure they covering it under warranty but if you don't pay for online you lose your saves once you send in the be repaired.
I've had my switch since release, it gets loads of use both in handheld mode and docked. I have 4 joycons and never had any issues whatsoever. Best console I ever bought

I bought mine on release to, I own 4 joycons and I’ve had 1 that drifted not long ago, I then bought 2 analog sticks on eBay and repaired it, works as new again, easy and a cheap £7 fix.

Treated myself to one. Been after one for a while but couldn't justify 200 notes on it. 167 is a little less painful

Yeah, and most of the best games are on Wii U as well at half the price or less.

I bought Mario Odyssey pre owned on EBay for £27. I went for one without a case as it saved a fair bit, it came in a small lttle jiffy bag. I expect to get the full £27 back when I sell it on. My case has slots for the cartridges, so it's winner winner chicken dinner imo.
