Does anyone know if this can be used for emulation such as Mame, N64, Megadrive/CD, SNES etc?

I'd love to own a capable handheld multi emulator.

I know the answer will be on the internet, but emulation is somewhat of a minefield of knowledge across devices, version numbers, OS etc
Cheers
this reminds me of the time i went to japan and they only had the grey switch lites for sale, i want turqoise

I dont believe you can. But there are some very good ones available, loads cheaper too if it's just emulation you are after.

It really is just emulation. Any ideas which ones will do the above consoles/machines - decent size/quality screen, capable hardware good emulation?

Apologies for taking off topic, I'll shut up after this!

Either the latest raspberry pi 4 with a cooler of some sort running retropie which might end up at around £70 (involves some time setting up), or for more horsepower then go for an Nvidia shield TV Pro at £200. For the emulators you mentioned, the raspberry pi should do you just fine, the Nvidia shield TV Pro might be better suited if you're looking to emulate PSP and maybe some GameCube

Psp/ps vita are good ones
the Switch lite and newer switch models can't be hacked (as of yet, not anytime soon either by software but future maybe hard mods)

Apparently the original model of the Switch was hacked quite quickly opening the door to that kind of thing, but I believe Nintendo patched it out with firmware updates (the boring spoilsports that they are) and as this version only released this year it will almost certainly have the newer unhackable (well harder to hack) firmware.

TBH if you aren't interested in it for the actual Switch games and just want an emulation system there are FAR better options out there. Apparently the Vita can be hacked fairly easily (again though I believe Sony have patched it out or made it harder).

To avoid constantly battling with Sony/Nintendo updates though (could just keep the system offline of course) you may be better with a Android phone or tablet (you can pair controllers you don't have to use awful touch controls) or even a specialised handheld option like the GPD X D Plus...

Good price but If you're wanting a game I think the tesco deal is better for £20 more.

Latest Vita firmware can be hacked. Great machine for emulation inc. full speed support for PSP and the original PlayStation. I don't think it'll handle N64 though. Most tablets from the last decade will handle N64 nicely. You'll just need to find a compatible controller.

Another option would be to buy a pre owned pre patched switch from eBay. This way it can still be firmware hacked to run retro pie then fill a SD card with ROMs.
Better than the Curry's deal as you have the option to pay monthly
