I'm not doubting you, just the information you've received. Nintendo are unable to supply sufficient units of their current model globally ( partially due to the current crisis ). They won't be manufacturing a new model to launch this year, October 2021 would be optimistic imo.

Yes, I believe the Switch Lite is a failed project and a failed design.
There's defo a market for a lite but for me one big selling point of the original switch was being able to play on the TV.
Don’t get why this is voted cold where as the yellow one is 500oC+. Kinda harsh!

Late 2021 at the earliest, best estimates are 2022 from what I've read so not exactly just round the corner.

Nintendo's accounts say otherwise.

Nintendos accounts are brimming with cash from all directions.

The reason I say what I say is that I have known parents buying these lites then realising the really onerous limitations.

Well you can't play games like Just Dance and Mario Party - but that's about it. They're still an excellent alternative, with great build quality and a more portable form factor. To call it a "failed project and failed design" is obviously over the top.

Thought you were being sarcastic! "Limitations"? How exactly is it limited when compared with other handhelds (e.g. Sony Vita)? It's already sold >6 million units and it's not even been out a year. It's about as far from a "failed project and a failed design" as it's possible to get!

Sarcastic? Me, never..well rarely. I do my best not to troll. Hard sometimes..

It's mainly the full phat Switch is so very good. I have a beef with the controllers in both versions, and the first thing I do is swap out for something far better e.g. Hori controllers. The other thing is Price. £200+ for Lite (albeit with game inc) is very similar to Switch phat. Switch phat is a proper console with a dock, so it offers the best of both worlds - both portable when you need it, and docked when you need it.

Obvs, as you say, Nintendos accounts are brimming so it must suit some consumers.

My Switch phat won't take cartridge anymore (fault), so I am holding out for the new Switch in the next year or two.

Fair points. Let's agree it's a (another!) successful handheld from Nintendo, but does have room for improvement. Personally I'd increase the onboard memory and extend battery life. But then it would be even more expensive which is another area to improve in!
Swapped my full blown switch for the lite earlier this week and my personal preference is I much prefer the lite. Yes it has restrictions but having small hands meant the switch was uncomfortable for me in handheld mode, and I've two grumpy teenagers who never joined in the fun multi player games on the full size switch anyway!

Seems like a more advanced DS to me, so can't see why it wouldn't be popular, apart from the price of games compared to the DS!
MrAlbert07/05/2020 13:20

HUKD is fickle?

Well I did ask them to merge the deals, but they are adament they are different products so I let them be. I think a lot of it is due to the Yellow deal. People know they've voted hot before and at the same price. I'm guessing here, but it might be how it works.
Here late, it’s freezing cold. I’m getting my coat, brb

Hey Thanks for this one @hans.felthercrack Been having a look to try to understand which its cold and it think the prices were a little all over the place when the thread was shared. Seems it was showing as £299, £219 and settled correctly at £229 Hopefully members after a Switch Lite and ACNH found this one useful!
