I picked up a DS Lite for a tenner a couple of years ago... wonder whether the old Animal Crossing games are worth playing.

Softmod it. OK, it's a grey area but still... You can "try" the games first before buying them.

I only buy Nintendo hardware to play Nintendo games. The beauty of the Switch though is the sheer quantity of small indie titles that come out for it that don't appear on other consoles (or at least not as frequently). It is arguably the best system for such titles bar PC.

Description says brand new. Just bought 3 Switch lites this week for myself and 2 daughters at £190 each too! Damn...

Yeh good spot. They know half the order won’t be sent back though guess that’s why they do it
From personal experience I'd say with the Switch Lite, get it from a somewhere with a physical store so you can swap it for another if you get "joycon drift", rather than having to be without while you wait weeks for it to be fixed.
Reading the description makes it seems as its refurbished but Grade A. Tempted to buy the switch but waiting on Nintendos announcement for the pro version that appears to be legit. Although its rumoured to be console only and no handheld mode, I'd be kicking myself if they do release a new one. Would love a higher resolution, at minimum 1440p (1080p will do handheld mode) on an AMOLED or OLED screen. Well one can hope!

How have you determined for sure that the item is not brand new?

Exactly what puts me off a switch lite, joycon drift should have been sorted before releasing a handheld with non removable joycons.

Apart from the front listing, nowhere in the item description does it say it is brand new:

All grades are 100% fully functional as tested by our expert technicians and passed an industry leading 65+ point inspection. The devices have been thoroughly cleaned and extensively inspected for quality and reliability.

Batteries are tested to be in good condition and above 80% battery health.

I can’t see anywhere on the listing that suggests this isn’t brand new.

They explain their used items grading system in the listing, but as this particular item is clearly listed as brand new in the title & condition selection, I can only assume the grading system doesn’t apply?

Also, all their refurbished items where the grading system clearly does apply, are all listed as refurbished in the title & condition selection, and not brand new, like this Nintendo Switch Lite is.

When, not if. The joystick components have a fundamental flaw and will wear out over time.
These are 2nd hand switches that have been returned with joycon drift.
Only a matter of time before it happens again.
For new I £172 each from shopto and comes with guarantee.
Bought a yellow one with Animal crossing for £160 from Cash Generators
They had it up for £179 with the game but bargained them down to £160 came with Box and Charger

You’ve made a huge assumption there.
These are new and sealed, they just use the same templated description for all of their items. MyWit usually sell graded phones, hence the grading descriptions, but sometimes sell new items too. It usually states "brand new" in the listing title.

That text you've quoted comes from the seller's description of their graded items, so it applies to anything they're selling as Grade A, B or C. But the Switch isn't listed as Grade A, B or C - it's listed as brand new.

So while that would make me think twice about buying, because it's clear they deal with a lot of refurbished items if that's their listing template (a lot of refurb iPhones from the looks of it), so it's possible they've started doing refurbished Switches as well, I would say for the 15% off you might as well chance it, because if it is brand new it's a bargain, and if not you can send it right back at their expense because it does say "New" in the listing.

£209?! I thought I got a steal at brand new for £227 delivered. With the Lites someone posted the 10% student discount Nintendo are doing direct and some students were offering their codes. That would make it about £162 new.

Nintendo don't seen to think there's a flaw. My Switch bought in 2017 has horrendous left stick drift (was playing a game earlier, looked away for a second and when I looked back my character walked left all by himself right off a cliff) and Nintendo chat say there's no known issue they'll fix it but ill have to pay since its out of warranty

So apart from Mario Party instead of using the Joy Con's can't you just use the Pro controllers instead? That's what I plan to do to minimise JC usage that will cause the drift issue.
All the listings from this seller have the grading in the description. They sell refurbs as well, so that is why the gradings are mentioned. I would be confident that this switch is brand new. Thanks

No the cheaper wired ones. I got the purple PowerA one for £7.99 off Argos and they had the red ones for £8.99 but depends on stock levels in your area. Also Amazon have good warehouse deals. I got the Princess Peach Gamecube one for £16. Might keep your JCs for longer.

Oh dear a Nintendo would be totally wasted on you then. This is possibly the best console since the N64 imo. I'm in game heaven with this one. A new Mario, new paper Mario, new Luigi's Mansion... They literally have brought out so many amazing games for this Xmas can't come soon enough just so child can go to her dad's and I can get on it . Apart from some of the glitchy games and drift issues Nintendo have done well on this one. Go back to your Xbox or PS4 lol

The lack of games is a killer though. I desperately want to play Mario odyssey and BOTW and have nearly bought a switch a few times just for those. But then I ask myself what will I play once I’ve finished those and I’m stumped and decide to keep my money. A system needs more than one top game a year and that’s always been Nintendo’s problem. It’s a shame because when they do release games, they’re invariably some of the greatest games ever made!

I said that when it first came out. Now child will be getting 27 games for Xmas and I've done my research on them all, watched YouTube vids and reviews. But if you have a PS or Xbox I thi k most of the others are on there too. We don't have either so for us it makes sense to get a Switch.

Lack of games? This has more essential exclusives than any of the other systems and I own them all so have no horse in this race.

Yeah, same here. It's ridiculous Nintendo UK can do that when the president of the company has made a public apology about the problem.

Nintendo's Pro controller uses the same type of component. It may be a bit tougher, or it may just be a lot less people use them regularaly, but they eventually have the same issue.

Personally, when the game doesn't require motion control, I'm using an Xbox One controller via Magic-S Pro on the TV and Hori Split Grips when portable.
Received mine today. It's new, but it's an EU variant with a 2-pin plug. So make sure you have an adapter. It charges over a smartphone charger via USB-C, but it might be a little slower to charge.
