Losing out on an 24 months guarantee on a console with an inherent design problem for the sake of 22 quid is absolutely absurd.
tumbleweed3413/02/2020 12:10

If it's this price everywhere, is it a deal though?

I only post these types of deals because of the JL 2 year guarantee, which some people prefer, so I'd say this was worth it.

It's all subjective but if it's dropped in price which this has then yes I'd say so, irrespective of how many stores are doing it. One retailer drops their price others tend to follow suit - doesn't automatically stop something from being a deal in my books. Not sure if it is a temporary reduction or not.
£99 or below and i might one day take a shot at a switch.

Seems like the Lite is dropping to around this price point all over. I do like the yellow one. Voted hot.

I used to work for John Lewis. I can't speak of their warranties, but certain areas of the business was a shambles.

Think that's true of almost every business. As long as the warranties are honoured, that's what is important. Never had a problem with JL. Argos are also good for returns, replacements, refunds.

Chinese Switch’s don’t work outside of China, they have their own eShop and all of their cartridges are region locked from the rest of the world.

It’s complicated to explain, but it’s all to do with the Chinese government restricting what can and can’t be played.

The Switch is generally region-free, I’ve got a European console and a Japanese console which work fine with cartridges and eShop downloads, but like I said, China has got an isolated eShop and their consoles won’t accept cartridges from outside of China (and cartridges made for Chinese consoles do not work on worldwide consoles).

Thanks good to know but surely eglobal would disclose this like they do with their huawei phones band 20 etc etc...??

Spawn Wave said the right stick is under the motherboard and not an easy job. He says that in his video. Only the left stick is straightforward.

All I've heard is that the Chinese cartridges are region-locked, so any Chinese exclusive games won't work on Switch consoles from other countries. I haven't read anything about hardware restrictions on the consoles themselves.

And what makes you think eGlobal are selling Chinese Switches? For £147 it sounds like you're talking about the Switch Lite, which certianly won't be from China as only the original Switch has been released there.

Yes

And that is fine, i don't play anything outside the home and the Wii U does just what the switch does for me game wise, MK8, M3D, DKTF, MM, MBU, PK3, and as a bonus no online paywall, and that 99 quid mark was just a level i would be willing to drop on a switch just for the curiosity factor.

£148 with my discount - brilliant
So if I get drift issues after a year and a half, I can return it to JL? Or they’ll replace it?
Am a dreamer so I still wait for it to be £99

Why not pay the extra £20 for peace of mind and no jumping through hoops in case you ever experience any major repair issues etc?

Buy a grip from skull and co or satisfye. Different models of switch won't make a difference.

Yes if the cramps are caused by the weight/size of the og switch. If it’s due to button layout could be the same

I used to own the original Switch not long after it's release. Bought a grip case for that but still found it to be on the uncomfortable side. Couldnt really get on board with docked or undocked as I wasnt home long enough to play docked and in portable/switch mode I found it uncomfortable even with the grip. Ended up trading it in.

Been on the fence with the Lite. Took the plunge at this price and downloaded my old purchases. From what I've played so far I find it more comfortable. Mainly as it is lighter and just generally feels quite solid. Buttons are nice. Screen seems brighter. Only downside.... screen is a little smaller and the bezel around the edge is annoying once you notice it. Happy with it so far though

Not the same at all, wii u was kinda trash from the get go. There's no reason for a switch to be 100 quid anytime soon. At least 5+ years. Even then it'll be outdated and the argument for waiting until its £99 is pointless.

And 2ds xl are even still ~£100

Woah woah woah, the Wii U was certainly not trash. IMO it was the best console Nintendo has ever released, it was just plagued by awful marketing.

Meant marketing and overall interest by the public. Either way a switch for 100 is not happening anytime soo
Nintendo is just so ridiculously premium priced. Only way to get a cheaper version of a switch is by buying a different version, which does not have one of it's integral functions. No thanks.

No way lol.

It's not terrible but it's not great either. The SNES, NES, N64, Gamecube, Wii and the Switch are all better.

And this coming from someone who still has their Wii U setup.
