Designed for on-the-go gaming

It's ready to go whenever you are! The Nintendo Switch Lite has been designed with on-the-go gaming in mind, so you can jump into your games on your commute, on a flight, out at the park - anywhere at all.

Weighing only 276g, it's super lightweight, so it's perfect for popping in your backpack or bag for some spontaneous gaming if you find yourself with some time to kill. The controllers are built-in too, so there's no chance of them getting damaged or lost when you're out and about.

The Switch Lite plays the whole library of Nintendo Switch games that have a handheld mode, so if you've already got a Switch console, loads of your games will already be compatible.

More multiplayer options

Link up to eight Switch or Switch Lite consoles to play with friends instantly. In handheld mode, the Switch can detect other consoles, making it easy to start playing local multiplayer games in just a few moments, with no complicated pairing or setup.

Connect your Nintendo Switch online for multiplayer action with or against players from all over the world. Compete against others, or team up in future co-operative games.

Get more from your console

It's not just for gaming. With the News feature, you can get the latest news and updates while you're connected to the internet. And with the Album feature, you can take screenshots to save to your hard drive or share directly and instantly to social media. Now no one can doubt that unbelievable high score!

Your games stored internally

Store your games on 32 GB of internal memory - so you've always got all your favourites with you. If you just can't choose, you can easily upgrade the storage using microSDHC or microSDXC cards so you've got space for your whole library.

Nintendo Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Enjoy the battles, action, and victory of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe wherever you go with the Nintendo Switch. You can play in TV, tabletop, or handheld mode in local multiplayer or online modes. Play with 40+ characters, including original favourites Mario, Luigi, Toad, Yoshi, and Bowser, or jump in with new faces like King Boo, Dry Bones, and Inkling Girl and Boy.

There are 48 courses over 10 cups to battle on, from Mario Kart Stadium to the infamous Rainbow Road, and a host of former tracks like SNES Donut Plains 3, N64 Yoshi Valley, and GBA Cheese Land.
If you click through or buy, retailers may pay hotukdeals some money, but this never affects which deals get posted. Find more info in our FAQs and About Us page.

Now the Vita is no more what other portable dedicated console is there? The NS is a little big for some people to call a true handheld console.

Wii U...

Just an opinion, i can't the the logic in not opting for something slightly larger that gives both handheld and larger screen play options. with the multiplayer option too, those with children on long journeys etc.
Some people want to play while on the move all the time.

It's personal preference. I wanted one sorely as a handled and it fits nicely into my handbag so it's perfect for me. I like the longer battery life too.

I own both a NS and NSL, Cloud Saves mean I can play at home, off TV on the sofa and at work.

The regular switch could be used solely as a handheld console too. Downsides of the lite is that the screen is smaller and it’s not as easy to play multiplayer games as there are no removable joy cons , £208 for this, and an extra £60 for separate joy cons to play local multiplayer , better off just buying the regular switch and Mario kart offer imo.

Why would you not just pick up your regular switch and take it to work? Then dock it when at home?

Too obvious
It's still far too expensive. The switch Lite should be no more than £150 with a game or £120 on its own.

I found it a bit too big as a handheld. I don't play multiplayer games but if you do then obviously the full fat Switch would be better. I got the Lite with Link's Awakening for £180 and I'm more than happy with it

I’d say for £180 that’s a pretty good price with that game
Why do so many people care what Switch others buy? I haven’t got one of these but a friend has and if you just want a Handheld it’s a nicer system to hold and easier to carry. Also more durable if kids are likely to use it.

It was a Currys/eBay deal in September when the Lite was just released.

It's smaller, lighter and cheaper. Also you're forgetting the Wii U only worked when in range of the base console, so only in your house. It wasn't actually a portable console.

Think you're expecting too much. HUKDers were going mad for the 2DSXL at £100, and you want the vastly more powerful Lite at £120?! Never going to happen. And don't get me started on how much people pay for phones. Around £170 for a Lite is a bargain.

I was in games store and I got talking to the owner and he said Nintendo have been told by people who sell the console in their store that they're charging too much for the switch lite, considering you can buy a full fat switch for not much more, and then you've got the price of the games some are about £60 I know that you can buy cheaper titles, but most people want to play the top titles.
This is what I paid for an actual switch with mario kart using very deal.

Well, considering the Lite is £80 cheaper (going by Nintendo's RRP) and essentially all they've done is remove the TV-Out, made the Joycons non-detachable, and slightly reduced the screen size, I think that's a pretty good saving. As I say, considering the price of the DS family and the Vita when they were sold, I think the Switch Lite compares very well.

I will agree games are pricey. Although I can remember paying £50 for a SNES cart which would be the equivalent of £100 in today's money. Having said that, Switch games seem to be £10 more than their XBONE/PS4 equivalents. Even the digital games are more expensive than the same game on iOS/Android platforms.
Assuming this will drop again today with the new eBay code? hotukdeals.com/dea…810

Probably not as code will only work for Currys clearance items. 🤞

Smaller, lighter, cheaper with a better battery life. If you play almost entirely in Handheld mode (which a lot of people do) it makes a lot of sense. £180 is also a lot more palatable for parents looking for something to buy their children for Christmas than £270
Nintendo did an event at my local shopping centre recently and they struggled to sell the switch lite concept. As many have said, the switch offers a lot more for not that much more money.
