Still overpriced by around £80 IMHO...

To be fair £250 with a good game wouldn't have been so bad but £280 with no game is just too much...

No games, no online store, gimmick controllers, overpriced, outdated.

Was it ever out of stock anywhere?
The the lack of games means other than the initial release purchases I doubt there's a queue of people lining up to buy now.

Am i the only one who feels this console is a flop?

I think it's a progressive console. I won write it off right away, but won't grab a switch till games rrp are much lower and the console price is lower.

Yes because whether or not it flopped is not a 'feeling', it's objectively measurable by sales, and the Switch is killing it thus far

It depends how you'd define 'flop'. It's Nintendo's fastest selling console ever. It was released with a game that hit 10s across the board. Which incidentally has sold more copies than the actual Switch unit.

Granted, Nintendo consoles are most definitely a targeted one, but I wouldn't call the Switch a 'flop'.

However, give me a £199 price point and I'll be all over it.

Possibly. I own one and have not turned on our PS4 since getting the Switch. Not only is Zelda the best video game I have played it really suits what I play games for - to relax, have fun and explore. Was away for the night a couple of weeks ago, took the Switch with me a played while I was away. Daughter took it with he to rehearsals so she could have something to do while she waited for her section. Snipperclips is also very very funny and a huge amount of fun.

Sad your bias won't allow you to be open minded; you're missing out.
Also, there is an online store so get your facts straight.
No games... oh except for a few of the highest reviewed games of the year/all-time with more to come.

Outdated comment - it does have an online store. Better value than my PS4 and the last I looked kids can't play on the PS4 on long car journeys.

Considering it's Nintendo's fastest selling console and they sold 2.4 mil in the first month, I'd say possibly yes.

exactly the same here, not played on the PS4 or Xbox One for weeks now, didn't think I'd use it in hand held mode as much as I do, allows me to do more gaming with a hectic family lifestyle.

Shame, that game was a personal 6/10 for me. Amazing for the hardware (Wii U), but an average game.

People saying the price Nintendo had chosen to sell it at is bad. But I'm sure I read somewhere that if they sold it for lower it would be sold at a loss. Which Nintendo wouldn't do

Am I the only person that reads these type of comments (brought X console for 1 game, haven't played Y console since) and think: wtf?!

We have a few consoles in the house, I watch my lad play Fall of Cybertron n Lego crap on his 360, we play Ark on the X1, I play Rocket League or Splatoon when kids n wife are asleep and together we play SMB World n MK8.
Can't imagine paying £300 to play a Zelda game.
Cold.

Back in the day I had to make do with Mario 64 n Turok because the N64 had no other releases, but 20 years on, they still barely fill a plate and people are biting their hand off for it.
Pathetic.

Likewise no-one cares if you brought a Switch and never turn your tv on anymore.
Back in my day, if a game didn't work, we'd blow in the bottom of the cartridge.

Why shouldn't they though? Their competitors (Sony and Microsoft) do this. Indeed, historically it has always been the case that consoles are sold at a break even or even small loss level as sufficient profits are made on the sale of software to comfortably offset the loss (provided the console is at least somewhat successful). Nintendo seem to want it both ways, profit on the console and games.

While it seems to be serving them well enough as they are doing great financially, it isn't so good for the consumer having to pay top dollar for the games (more than normal thanks to those dinky carts) and the system...

It appears you concede then judging by your resort to weak & childish insults. In future, at least try to hold together a cogent argument instead of making a fool of yourself; although this time after your first nonsensical comment I think the damage was already done

Again with the 'back in my day' ramblings X) classic

And for the record, I never 'switched on my TV' in the first place. I find everything on TV highly uninteresting and spend my time doing other things. Horses for courses. What a strange attempt at an insult.

Because Sony and Microsoft have a much more diverse portfolio so they can afford a loss-leader on the console to be recovered by software and licensing fees. Nintendo on the other hand are solely in the business of video games so they choose to increase their net margins by selling consoles at a profit.

Highest reviewed games? You meant just Zelda right? And more to come? wouldn't hold my breath. unless we start seeing more 'deluxe' versions of old wii u games which most loyal Nintendo fans will already own. Smash Brothers Deluxe anyone? I'll put money on it.

There are several highly reviewed games for the Switch, regardless of whether they are Wii U ports or not. For all but 13 million people that makes no difference as everybody else didn't have one A good game is a good game afterall. There will likely be a bunch of games announced at E3 to add to the others we alreday know about (Mario odyssey, Arms, Fifa etc etc) and Nintendo still have several aces to play like pokemon, smash bros, metroid, etc.
The more consoles they sell; the more games it will get... and so far it's selling like crazy so time will tell

Says you, going on like you've shovelled half a Pervuvian village up your hooter whilst contributing to this thread (_;)

Don't see why this deal is cold. Switch has been very hard to find atm. Shame it isn't the grey console. I would have bought it on the spot and cancelled my pre-order on Amazon.

Also what's with all the hate? If I remember correctly, the PS4 and XB1 didn't have great launch titles. The switch has just launched so of course it's not gonna have many games although it could have a few more games at launch. But quality over quantity, right? The new zelda looks really good but I don't think it deserves all the 10s it's getting. I'm sure it is a masterpiece but it does have flaws in my opinion. I won't list them but you can probably guess. Reviewers seem to be blinded by nostalgia unfortunately so they don't want to say bad things about it. However, reviews are of course subjective so maybe they didn't find any flaws. Who knows?

I'm a PC gamer so the only brand of console I would consider buying is Nintendo. Their exclusives are brilliant and hopefully more will come to the switch. The handheld aspect of it is really appealing. I have a 3DS but I'm not really keen on it. I have been very tempted to get the PS4 because it now has a lot of exclusives since its release a few years ago. However, it would require me to move a TV around with me (I'm at uni) in order to play it. It also shares a lot of third-party games with the PC but I would most likely always buy them on PC.

Anyway, I've just realised how much I've written so I'm gonna be leave at that. Probably won't be of use to anyone. Don't root for the switch to fail for whatever reason. Probably jealous X)

I'm PC gamer at heart and normally avoid consoles like the plague as they are low spec PCs with ridicously overpriced games. However, the Switch has really won me over.

It's so cool to be able to play such great games whilst lay in bed, it got me through a nasty bought the of the flu!

Honestly, if your thinking of getting one then do, I promise you will not be disapointed. Ignore the PS4 fanboys, they are talking out of the bottom half of their body. I sense a bit of green eyed monster.

Thanks OP

Like most things and as has already been said on this thread - it's horses for courses. Whether you or I like the Switch may well be irrelevant to the next person unless he or she is your or my friend in which case they may get one if we do. Does that make sense? I am a ps4 fan but I have an xbox and my best friend (aww ) is a Nintendo fan. He wants a Switch and I could not at first for the life of me understand the appeal. However I want one now to play with him (oO) when I go over his place - surely racing him on Mario Kart with our own screens is the most fun two grown men can have together

lots of moaning on this deal for an item thats out of stock
