It looks like that deal isn't paying off. No one has had theirs dispatched and a few people had orders cancelled. This is cheapest price right now.

£220 is an historic low, but this is also very good. it might be worthwhile holding out to see if the rumoured console revisions ever appear as well. multiple outlets are talking about it now, in spite of Nintendo's denials. they've got prior in this regard too.

What are the rumours on the new ones though? A bigger one and a weaker one right?

pretty much. I can't see them skewing the user base, but this is the same company who brought out the "New" 3DS line. these systems could access extra eshop games ("there's *no way* you could possibly run these SNES ROMs on your vanilla 3DS!"), and boost a very small selection of games if the Devs coded for it (Codename STEAM). it didn't end very well for them, obviously.

the latest take is that the "cheaper" model is very much still on the cards. I can picture this becoming a reality - and a sales success - much like the original non-folding 2DS model. cost-conscious consumers should lap it up.

the question of "how to make it cheaper?" is still fascinating though. a few people have suggested a non-dockable option with potentially fixed Joy-Con, but I think the latter part is probably unrealistic. being able to ship a SKU that doesn't need the dock nor the extra internal components could shave quite a chunk off RRP though.

I don’t think anything’s coming this year personally.

Anything similar with smash bros, Pokemon or splatoon?
sneakyduck14/06/2019 14:01

agreed.

What do you reckon? I think same or similar design and just updated internals, 1080 handheld, 4K tv and hopefully hitting 60fps....probably around the same time as Xbox and PS do their next gens.

prior history would suggest minor modifications are more likely - see the DSi when compared to the DS, or the New 3DS compared to the 3DS.

I think "a bit more grunt" if they release an expensive one, which will probably equate to better graphical prowess but not much more.
or the Gameboy Advance SP compared to the Gameboy Advance. think evolution, not revolution.

A respected person (forgotten their name though!) in the emulation community has confirmed Nintendo's statement. There's no way to run SNES ROMs on the vanilla 3DS

Or any OS

it's a question of horsepower. Found a quote

"You know what it takes to perfectly emulate Super Mario World ? One of the more mundane SNES in terms of technicality ?
It takes a 3ghz quad core CPU and pretty much all of its attention"

I remember when Nintendo said they weren't making another 3ds model...They announced the 3ds xl shortly after. Always take them with a grain of salt!

No, a smaller one and a stronger one
The latest I've heard is - Nintendo have just moved Switch production out of China, and there are now apparently 3 models of Switch in production!
Curry eBay store.
Switch with MK8 and Minecraft.
£309 - 10% = 278.10
Can sell games for £35 and £15 on Facebook easily. Console actual cost = £228.10

Bitten, cheers OP!

I really don't know why people keep think Nintendo competes with Sony and Microsoft when it comes to technology and production values, at best you're looking at a CPU and GPU upclock and upscaling to 4K (definitely not HDMI 2.1) with extra features like anti reflective screens, bigger battery and extra USB 3 ports. You're absolutely not getting a 2 teraflop handheld by next year.

Still feels like 4K hasn't hit mass consumer levels yet
