As said above I've also never played any of the games or seen the tv show either but I've always been interested in this. Nintendo Life review though says this really is a game only for fans of the series.

There are lots of references to major events in the series that'll leave you confused if you don't know them. I'd say you need to at least be familiar up to the end of the Marineford arc of the series
Graphics looks very pretty on the switch. already had WiiU copy but dont mind paying this price for a better switch copy. Thanks OP
