Really? Even when this divided by 8 is ~£3.36. For 12 months
Individual membership is the best one if you don't want anyone else to have control of your account - including control of your spending on games. Furthermore, if you have one type of membership you can only buy more of that type until your current membership runs out. You can't have family and stack up on individual when a good deal comes along. Family is exactly what it sounds like - it's for people who trust each other a lot, don't mess each other about, and stay in touch for years. If that's you, great happy for you.

I went for individual (which can be stacked for three years to avoid Nintendo price rises) to avoid arguments, to avoid being messed about, and to have simple membership I control. For what it offers, it's good value. I really like the classic NES games too for simple relaxing retro fun and they will be added to with more advanced games in time. Just know what you're getting into and be happy with it. Hopefully this info helps someone.

Can this be a hub for us to share accounts
Just getting up to speed on the different memberships...
This would work out to be the best option if you can coordinate with others to share the price, right?

Folk should look to set up a discussion like this one if they want to save money

I'd definitely be up for this if this happens

It's £27.49 but with the FB like code, it would come in at a few pence less (£26.67)
Membership is not a good match for Nintendo. Should be left to other console brands. Not even tried it, anyone else boycotting it?

Does this worked with family with hacked Nintendo switches? 😁

Ummm no, that's not correct.

They can't unilaterally restrict your spending without your say-so.
They can only restrict spending on 'Supervised' accounts (as you would expect). They can only make you 'Supervised' if you agree to be supervised by them.

The only thing they could do unilaterally (as admin) is to remove you from the Family Group, if they want to mess you around.

If i don't want to play my switch online and only use it for couch co-op. would it still be worth buying?
I joined a family group from an earlier post of this deal on here for a few pounds with no probs at all. You can see your membership role through your own Nintendo Account and also leave the group if you wish.
I’m happy to buy a slot if anyone has any available

I can see the flipside of this though. I'm happy for my son to play others online but I don't want him to listen to some foulmouthed kid on the other end. Or listening to wee clans gang up on others.

Nintendo is more family orientated so maybe they're thinking this also. Just a thought.

You can get a free 7 day trial for Nintendo Switch Online, which would allow you to try the NES games, as well as allowing you to play Switch games online for 7 days.

Admittedly I was actually thinking about that this morning. I can see the logic but if they were really thinking that then why not add some parental control to switch chat off. I think its just Nintendo solving a problem in the most bizarre and awkward way possible when its already been solved by others.

Really. Its not about how much it costs, its the principal. I don't care about nes games so to pay for this is to get nothing more than I can still get on the wii u for free. All I want is to be able to chat in a party to my mates through the console, its a basic feature for an online offering that you don't even have to pay for on the other consoles.

As for the family membership im not sure id be comfortable linking my account in any capacity to folks I know let alone randoms from the Internet no matter how decent some may be.

Good price, shame it was never £39.99 to begin with, don't be fooled by their over pricing to make you "think" it's better, it was £31.49 to begin with.

Several games allow for voice chat, just need to connect a mic to your switch, such games that I know of are, fortnite, paladins, smite all f2p titles funny enough that don't require online subs

The reason that I replied was your mention that you miss Splatoon
Serious question: Is there native voice chat in Splatoon on Wii U?
Anyhoo I think the reason Nintendo don't want to implement it in there first party games is so they remain to be seen as more family friendly and safe compared to competition. People who bother to use the voice chat app are probably less likely to want cause any problems.
Native voice chat is now available for developers to implement into their games, Fortnite has done so.
I also felt slightly uneasy of joining someone else's 'family', that's why I decided to set one up myself on here

Yeah I paid 4 quid to a hukd member and am happy with this. I certainly wouldn't pay the full amount as I think there service is far below par.

However there is rumblings that SNES games will soon be joining the service. If this is the case then I will be very happy indeed.
Adorablemunchkin3 h, 17 m ago

Personally I wouldn't bother if your not interested in online. NES games are rubbish compared to SNES games, especially if they hold zero nostalgia for you because you never played them back in the day
The cloud backup is useful not to mention the opportunity to buy the NES Joy Cons
Just to confirm, does this only work on a single Nintendo Switch with up to 8 accounts connected to it and can't be applied to another console?

So you think all those people on hotukdeals splitting the cost/sharing a family account, are all travelling to one members house to play on a single Switch console?

Am definitely interested if anyone’s doing a group buy

Did not know this. Kinda makes it worse if Nintendo dont add that to their own games in future, they're trying to make out like having to do it through your phone is a useful feature last I saw. Still not party chat though which is what im after, I want to talk to my friends while playing and not everyone else. As it stands currently that means using Skype because faffing with wiring to a phone and that app is far more of a nuisance.

I do, its such a good game. When the paywall went up I went back to the original on the wii u for a bit but despite some of the advantages of that come from the tablet controller it isn't quite as good as the second. The music in particular lol. Im honestly not sure if it has native voice chat on wii u, I think it did but I never had reason to use it on there, never had any friends who played on wii u.

As for the family friendly stuff, as I said earlier that does kinda make sense but it could be done with a parental control rather than inconvenience everyone.
I've got 6 places left, if anyones interested pm me
