I know you can get console and game cheaper if bought separately. But the RRP seems decent for limited edition console. May not appeal to everyone here but could be helpful to collectors

    Even the game isn't physical.

It's insulting when Nintendo do this. Also with no other "freebies" in the box I think their taking the mick!

Eh? Switch has been £255 this week and Mario Odyssey can be had for under £40. You're paying £25 more for some box art, red joy-cons and a digital download

Totally agree with you guys but it seems limited edition consoles can hold it's value more than normal console and can be resale at higher price if it's difficult to get hold off after it's released....

I think I agree there! I was nearly enticed by it when I first saw it but then I looked at the product carefully and thought:

'So the Joy-Cons are 'red';they're OK. But you don't get the physical copy of the came so out of the 32GB that the console comes with... how much would I have left to use?'

Also, I'm sure Nintendo will end up releasing the red Joy-Cons separately eventually.

In other regions you get a mario carry case included in the bundle.
In the UK you can buy the case septately for £19.99.

I had been waiting for a Mario SE console and a deal price. Think I will just get the best I can on Black Friday now though as the switch has already been £251 and the game under £40 so this is a £30 premium for a non-physical copy of the game and red controllers, what a let down.

If it had some sort of Mario designs on the console and controllers then it would have been worth it. They did it for Monster Hunter in Japan.

Nihir... I know that you normally outline some really good deals on here. But I can't condone this - if only because the Switch and its entire ecosystem screams "rip off". £300+ for a "current" system and game, that's already showing signs of being behind the times, and I can't see how anyone can see it as being a good deal (apart from Nintendo fans who rather moronically end up cheering anything with a Nintendo logo on it).

I'm guessing there's loads of people who have been waiting for Mario Odyssey to be released before buying the Switch. So this will clearly be of interest to them.

In my opinion though Nintendo make rubbish Limited/Special edition consoles now compared to the N64 and Gameboys etc.

I'm not certain if the discount codes are still working but £254.99 for a Switch without red joy-cons. About £37 for Mario Odyssey. With what is roughly £30 saving you can almost buy a Pro controller which is a must if using it in dock mode.

No it really won't. They will be in shorter supply as christmas approaches. They don't need to sell them at a loss.

The UK doesn't get the carry case included like the rest of the world so I'm not buying it out of principle. And they have the cheek to sell it separately for £19.99!

Some games are keepers - I'm sure this will be one of them. Besides, who bought Sonic Mania without a thought for resale value...me for one. Also load times tend to be generally better installed rather than running from the cartridge, just a consideration.

Yeah, some games are definitely keepers. But are you going to be able to actually keep them digitally? Yes, until the powers that be say you can't. And that's the problem with digital. You're at the whim of the publishers and service providers.

I'm far happier with a physical version knowing I'll be able to play it in 20 years, just like I do with my NES and SNES cartridges now.

I never said this is best deal ever for switch. Hence I said clearly this won't appeal everyone. But there is market for limited edition consoles for sure. Check out prices of splatoon limited edition console on Amazon or eBay. I am not hardcore Nintendo fan and can't stand with their extortionate price policy. Posted this only to help few people who like to collect limited edition consoles...

£40 more than the RRP of a base console for a digital game with no resale value. Whilst it may be true that collectors editions in general hold value better that will not be true for versions with digital content (which has zero resale value)
Just buy a base console and Mario separately, at least the physical Mario game will have resale value.

So I'm going to have to vote cold.

    You must be joking, right?

"Shaft their loyal base" is the overstatement of the decade. What are we talking here, no physical copy, not literally 'limited edition'...ok, but we are still getting what is a neat new Nintendo console and potential GOTY bundled in a package which would be cheaper buying each separately. Some may see that as a plus. (edited)

Careful. You seriously triggered a nintendo fanboy. Now you'll have to look behind your back for the day. Listen out for heavy mouth breathing. The halitosis should give it away when they're near. (edited)

    This old chestnut again.

It hurts Nintendo to have short supplies. It doesn’t help to keep the prices high and instead means they bring in less profit and potentially lose customers. The Switch is in short supply because Apple have been taking the supply of components that Nintendo needed. (edited)

Exactly! Some seem to forget that you can be a Nintendo fan but also call them out over their BS. I own every console apart from the Switch, but need more compelling reasons to purchase than red joy-cons and an overpriced digital download. I've been waiting for this Mario bundle and hoped for something decent, with an actual limited console and physical MO. This is a kick in the balls for me, and many others judging by the thread...

I have two switches. I have every apple iphone, most laptop and desktop models. However the phenomenon of apple and nintendo fanboys continues to astound and disgust me quite frankly. I truly and genuinely believe at this stage its like a religious ideology. As soon as you say the slightest criticism of these companies and their products these people will interject, chime in and start patronising you in a condescending manner. The tragic thing is these saddos don't realise these two are some of the most cutthroat and vicious companies who wouldn't urinate on them or their loyalty if they were on fire. Like you said, you can be a fan of the products whilst being open to criticism. I genuinely believe some nintendo and apple fans are horrible people worse than nazis. Sounds harsh but that's how I feel. Because I have a very low tolerance for their BS.

So how it stacks next to a PS4 or Xbox one is completely irrelevant because I want to play Zelda, Mario Kart and so on.By your logic though, both the PS4 pro and Xbox One X are old hardware past their sell by date. My PC kicks the crap out of both of them. But you know what my PC doesn't do? It doesn't play the whole Halo collection or Sony first party games. So stop talking crap and get over yourself.

Someone got triggered... Probably needs a safe space. Should maybe opt for Nintendo Land.

I'm gonna jump in here just for a laugh. I'm a Nintendo fan dated back to the NES and Gameboy. I can agree on both sides of the fence in here tbh. This most definitely isn't a collectors item and it's as limited as a standard Nintendo Switch is. They will bring out the joy-cons separately as they've done with all the others.

The Nintendo Switch however in my opinion is just a carbon copy of the Wii U, with the added facility to use as a handheld away from your home. The Wii U had extremely poor marketing leaving it to die a death that it probably didn't deserve.

Mario Odyssey is the only reason for people to buy a Nintendo Switch to date. As an owner of the Switch I can say that it isn't worth the money that it currently sells for. Not a chance, however I've got it now and am happy this game is coming out soon. Maybe it will change my mind....

A site moderator has created a 'safe space' here for thin-skinned Nintendo cheerleaders by placing the comments of non-fanatics on moderator approval.

I just noticed that... The thin skinned "powers that be" deleted my earlier comment. Maybe because I mentioned the word "retard" in it. Should just have said Nintendard...

Maybe I stated a fundamental truth. Or maybe I held up a mirror, and Nintendo fans didn't like what they saw...
