I honestly can't figure out if I'm just getting old(36) and not keeping up with the cost of things any more but 2 games for £80 just doesn't feel like a deal to me!
I feel like gaming in general is getting more expensive but at my age now as much as I enjoy it, it feels like it's an expense not worth bothering with.

Gaming is becoming cheaper and more accessible - new SNES games were like £60 in the 90’s - prob about £80 in today’s money! Games come down in price quicker too, although Nintendo games do generally hold their value
We perhaps should just not put up with this from Nintendo, when God of War is sub £25 yet a 4 year old Wii-U remake is still the best part of £40 its insane!

Clearly didn't buy many games then as I remember paying more than £40 for a game. Pretty sure I paid £50 for a few N64 games. Nintendo games have always been expensive, 2 Highly rated exclusive games for £80 is good value.

Look how much everything has inflated over the years yet games have stayed the same whilst they are costing more to make.

But if you use the picture as an example then you could get a console and 2 games for just over a hundred quid! its not all crazily expensive, just parts of it, and not all the games.
Isnt a hobby supposed to be expensive? My dad used to collect Marklin trains, don’t even wanna know how much money went in there. So happy to pay 80 pounds for two games

I think xb1 and ps4 games come down in price due to the number of people who buy them, the companies make their money then games come down in price. If Nintendo had the audience that Sony had then perhaps game pricing would be different.

I paid £50-£60 for a few n64 games back in the day, perfect dark was one of them because it came with an expansion pack, so yes, it's a little hard to believe that games are generally cheaper these days! They make it up with DLC prices though!

Gaming is actually cheaper now than before. Just think, a Gameboy used to cost about £100. Minimum wage didn’t exist. Now, you can buy a Switch for £250 on a good day. Minimum wage is £8 or more.

You get way more for less now. I remember DS games costing £39.99 15 years ago, for example!

You might be comparing to the PC game price drop of the late 90s where you could pick up cracking games for about £20...

In any case, what about neo geo games? £200-599 if I remember correctly in 1992

So games have generally got cheaperish again in the last 5 years, but most games bought for other consoles you buy and then have to buy again after with dlc etc.

The switch has always had expensive games sadly, especially when talking about first party titles.

This deal however can be obtained cheaper buying separately elsewhere so for me is a no go, but if you want to save yourself some time - then this could be a tempter

To echo what everyone else has said, I'm the same age as you and I'm relieved with how much cheaper games are compared with the 80s & 90s where NES & SNES games would range from £40 - £70 each. Insanely expensive especially when you consider this was 30 odd years ago.
Purchased just for the Smash Bros game, will resell the Mario Kart whilst still saving money. Thanks OP!
Ouch . £80 for two 6 year old Wii u ports. Ambassador. How is it a deal ?

Come on guys do you all work for Nintendo or something ?

You can't compare the monopoly situation Nintendo had in the 1980s with NO CHINA for manufacture with the situation now that is insulting people's intelligence. Not cool at all.

A fair comparison is other homeconsoles , the cost of similar software and accessories.

But more importantly the cost of exactly the same games on Wii u !

I paid £50 delivered for a boxed Wii u with Mario kart and an Extra controller before Christmas. I Paid a tenner for smash Bros.

£60 total for the console and these games ! Come on guys stop being so patronising. You come across as vested interests / Nintendo with these sort of comments.

Red dead 2 £36 -Goy
Battlefield 5- £20
God of war - £20
Spiderman - £20

This is new. Frequent deals posted on here daily. Obviously less used.

These are outstanding AAA games. Most of them are only a Month or so old. Then you have the cost of hardware. After selling unwanted items I only paid a hundred quid for my PS4 And xb1. Each that is And over a year ago.

So gaming has come down in cost. Massively.its only Nintendo that totally rinses people.

This is PS4 or xb1. Please guys just stop these unreasonable justifications for blatantly ripping people off. It's getting embarassing to be honest trying to defend the indefensible.

It all seems expensive to me now....Skidrow and other pirates were my saviour back in the Amiga days....the consoles I have had since them days I’ve always hacked, well the majority of.

Loving the switch though...starving and haven’t got any food but loving it! 🏻
Mario Kart Deluxe should be free, which makes this a rip off.

Crafty tactic adding a 5 year old port to Smash Bro to bump up the price.

Don't forget inflation rate guys, as price increases, wage increases as well. You may be used to paying £30 for a game back then but thats when minimum wage was say £6.00 (for example). Now games are like £50 but minimum wage is like £7.50.
I don't think it's a deal as Mario Kart has been available for £33 and physical £35 at Curry's. Smash Bros has been widely available via promos for around £45 mark as well. I have seen it popping up locally for £40 as well which is promising. I can understand how Switch physical games can be more expensive because the SD card format but still...since getting my Switch, because of this 'nintendo tax' I am more selective about the games I get for this platform. With the amout of promos seen recently it looks like things are getting better for nintendo fans but still we being ripped off compared to PS4 exclusives mentioned above - another reason not to get rid of my PS4 I guess

I don't know if there even was a minimum wage in 1992... But if there was it couldn't have been more than £3 an hour? So in theory I'd say these prices are about half that experienced 25 years ago.

Look I think we all get it...you don't like Nintendo...how about you just ignore this deal or vote cold and move on with your life, Instead of spouting that every Nintendo game is just a port?
But regardless...I'll bite...
Super Smash Bros is not a port, if it is a port, then I guess EVERY SINGLE FIGHTING GAME is a port of the original then?
And those games you listed none of which are 1 month or so old:
God Of War - £52.99 (9 months old)
Red Dead Redemption 2 - (2 months old) £59.99
Spiderman - £54.99 (4 months)
Battlefield V (2months old) is the only exception as it is currently on sale at £29.99 but it is going to be raised to it's RRP is £59.99 after January sale.
Yes Nintendo games can be ridiculously expensive (especially for actual ports and remasters, charging £10 more than Microsoft/Sony would) and first party titles "hold their value" (basically Nintendo can be stubborn as hell) but the prices above are the prices SONY are trying to sell these games to you not a retailer having a sale. The RRP's are also similar on other retailer sites too

If you honestly believe they represent what is the best deal available for those games then post them on here and let the freezing cold wasteland that would be the response show you the error of your ways. I'm not trying to say they're a good deal...I was replying to someone who is coming across as saying Sony/Microsoft do not charge similar prices to what Nintendo charge for their games...if anything I agree with everyone saying Nintendo games are expensive.
and for £80 I'd be happy with God of War and Smash Bros, IMO the best games of last year well worth the value for money
Total rubbish those games were never 60 at launch. You can buy them for the prices I quoted they are available for those prices on this site.

Stop the lies !
My reservation is due to be picked up today. I had a call earlier from someone from Currys telling me they no longer have the item for me. But soon after, I got an email from Currys reminding me to pick up the item. I've just emailed Curry's customer service:

-----
I have reserved an item for pick up today, see below.

I had a call earlier today from someone at Currys Beckton saying that they no longer have the item as it was now out of stock. They didn't go into detail, but I persisted to ask, and they eventually told me that because of the Christmas period their stock system counts were incorrect and thus they no longer had my item for me.

This is very strange, because the item still appears for sale on your website at time of writing, and the caller was hesitant to go into detail. But now I've received the following email still asking for me to pick it up.

I'm unsure how to progress - do I may the trip unnecessarily to pick up my item, or do I believe the caller?

Please can you look into this for me.

-----

Bit annoyed by the call - but let's see what Currys come back with.

This race to the bottom on pricing is terrible. It’s infuriating to me that games don’t hold their value. God of War was great but I’ve no desire to play it again but now it’s almost worthless for resale or trade in. No wonder games are riddled with loot boxes, micro transactions and DLC. I’d rather games hold their value. Nintendo seem to be the only company that can guarantee that and make it worth buying games on launch day. No wonder the Switch and Switch games are doing so well.
