Description
Introducing Nintendo Switch, the new home video game system from Nintendo. In addition to providing single and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system can be taken on the go so players can enjoy a full home console experience anytime, anywhere. The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system, with unprecedented new play styles brought to life by the two new Joy-Con controllers.

PLAY ANYWHERE

Home Gaming System

At home the main unit rests in the Nintendo Switch dock, which connects the system to the TV and lets you play with family and friends in the comfort of your living room.

On-the-Go

Lift Nintendo Switch from the dock and instantly transition to handheld mode for on-the-go gaming. By sharing Joy-Con, players can go head-to-head while away from home. You can also enjoy the same great games in tabletop mode by using the included stand to prop the system up.

New Play Styles

Remove the detachable Joy-Con from either side of Nintendo Switch for more play styles:

One player can use a Joy-Con in each hand

Two players can each take one

Multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options (additional Joy-Con sold separately)

Slip a set of Joy-Con into a Joy-Con grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.

Bring together up to 8 Nintendo Switch systems for local face-to-face multiplayer.

But it would be good to know though.
If I was down for a new switch now, then I would personally pay the £60 extra for full price with extended battery life. If I couldn't afford it, then I would jump at this. I may be looking to buy within next few months, so waiting for deals for red box versions for battery life if deals do materialise before xmas.
I'm doubtful there'd be any meaningful warranty here

So it gets sent to Hong Kong for repair ? You then negotiate with whom to haggle the issue of whether the fault is yours or the console ?

Well I bought the old switch at the start of the week, didn’t realise a new one was coming out, contacted them online (bought online) they said take it to the shop for an exchange, only to be told at the shop there’s no difference & they didn’t have it in anyway ha ha .. I take it they don’t like swapping online stuff in the shop?
pirate125/08/2019 16:48

Who send it to Hong Kong

Do you think, here is any authorised Nintendo Switch repair service in uk?
Because i dont think any other seller company replace your faulty switch after 30 days.

What shop? Does eglobal have shops? I thought they were just online?

Most decent UK retailers will replace a faulty console within warranty period, at least that's my experience.

Just to be clear, I have nothing against eglobal. I've used them for purchases under £100 and had no problems, but for the price I paid I expected no warranty or after sales service. Personally, I wouldn't spend over £150 from eglobal, Gearbest etc but these retailers are fine if you go in with these expectations. Imo of course.
Heat given for the Nintendo fan boy joke!

New one isn't out yet so they can't swap tbh.
Is the old switch even worth buying with the amount of issues with joycon drift? The new one hasn't been out long enough to compare but it's still a concern
Whenever you buy anything from online, you have a fair amount of consumer rights:

So if they don't adhere to these standards, then you can claim! But knowing your rights means you know what should happen...

is this the new or old switch?

INintendo Switch: Model Number Difference At a glance, there's no way to tell the difference between the original Nintendo Switch and the upgraded version with the dramatically improved battery life.

The original Nintendo Switch, out since its March 3, 2017 launch, have a HAC-001 model number. The new and improved Switch, which Nintendo said is coming mid-August, is stamped with model number HAC-001(-01). Here's a photo of the current Nintendo Switch model number and where to find it:

Serial numbers for the original Switch model begin with "XAW," while serial numbers for the model with better battery life begin with "XKW." Here's a photo of where to find the serial number on your Nintendo Switch:

You can also check the serial number of a Nintendo Switch when it's still in the box by taking a peek at the window built into the packaging itself. Check out the photo below, and the serial number can be checked without the box being opened at all, so don't let this image grab from our Switch unboxing mislead you. I just don't have an unopened Switch handy.

That brings us to the next big, obvious differentiating feature of the new Switch model and the original Switch model: new packaging.
Identify a Newer Nintendo Switch Model From Its PackagingOn its own website, Nintendo lists all the various Switch models available in the past, as well as the upcoming Switch revision with longer battery life. You don't even need to check the numbers to know instantly you're getting the newer version. Take a look at the new packaging below:
Updated Nintendo Switch Model Box

Current Nintendo Switch Model Box

Keep in mind, however, it's probably still worth double-checking the model and serial numbers if there's a special edition or bundle with special packaging and you want to ensure you get the newer one.
jamie14780027/08/2019 22:48

I believe it not, hence the price is too low
Not sure you can use the promo code but rakuten are offering 17% back in points until 2/9 if anyone’s getting this (they’re about £227 before the £32ish back in points)
