Get them at this price while you can folks, the price to shops is going up £20 so expect it to go up for us as well :-(

That's a good price.

I don't understand what's good about this, I paid £179 two years ago (then sold because I didn't like the console). How is £3 less two years after release a good deal?

Exactly! The console doesn't offer an accurate or consistant control system, there's a lack of quality games (as with the N64) and the technology is really getting quite old now, yet you still pay more for this than a PREMIUM Xbox 360?! Am I missing something? Practically everybody I know who owns one, including my housemate, never even plays on it.

Considering Wii Play is about £35 with a controller (more like £40 on the high street), this is a good deal.

You effectively get the console for £140.

Good price, but it should be said, this is a games console for people who don't like games. Good for parties, though.

This thread has the accessories which are basically useless as an aside to the main wii play/console.

I play on mine all the time, though admittedly I am going to get a PS3 to replace it.

I agree with your points apart from the "technolog is really getting quite old"...... that is a bit silly really, considering no other console offers this technology. It can only really be called old, if its been beat, which it hasnt yet. (the motion sensing tech that is)

good price - voted hot.

I have to agree with your agreeance. No way is this value for money for what amounts to 10 year old gaming technology. My wife wants one of these so we will be getting a cheap 2nd hand one for far less than this ripoff price.

Yeh - the world was awash with wirless control wifi enabled games machines 10 years ago. I prefer my holographic 3d nuclear powered device that I have had for 2 years now????????????????

This is a proper family games console. The negative comments always seem to pitch it against the insular consoles 360 and PS3, which it outsells consistently, which it was never pitched against. The Wii put the fun back into gaming and continues to innovate with peripherals and genuinely fun games. The so called 'next-gen' have fantastic graphics but lack the ability to involve everybody.
By contrast everyone I know who has a Wii still play with theirs more than the 360 and the odd few that have a PS3.

i agree with your agreeance of agreeance that its not as powerful as ps3/xbox but both are irrelevant.
2nd hand? only applies to wii ofc you cant get anything else 2nd hand and so cheaper.

Is this the best deal for this product? yes? its hot.

This isn't something people dont want - it still has a demand so you cant even use the 'useless old tat that noone buys for stupid price even if cheapest' argument.

Please point me to a games system that was released 10 years ago that does what the Wii does with the wireless motion interface that any family member can play ?

Graphics quality Yes! but that doesn't mean **** if the game is no fun what so ever...

Exactly. The motion sensing tech, which is simply the control input to the console, and it isn't all that good. As a pointer, the damn gun for the Dreamcast beats it for usablilty and accuracy, and doesn't require a sensor either!

Regardless, I was referring to the hardware of the console, which is only a relatively small step up from the Gamecube. I was slightly disappointed with Mario Kart on the Wii for this reason, as I instantly noticed that gone was the silky smooth framerate and trademark look of all previous incarnations, and in its place was a framerate of 30-40fps and a different feeling game. I'm sure this was due to hardware limitations of the Wii. Thank god for Mario Galaxy.

The NES with a 'Power Glove', released in 1989. That's 20 years ago! It was terrible then, and it's still pretty bad on the Wii now, motion sensing just isn't accurate. It's been tried many times on many consoles and on PCs. The Wii is the best effort yet but that still doesn't make it good. The Wii contains old technology in every sense. Don't be fooled that this is brand new technology.

Gaming is going through a realism versus fun battle at the moment, the Wii's motion sensing is a perfect example of an attempt at realism getting in the way of the fun in a game. Once you realise that you don't have to swing it like a tennis racket to hit the ball, just flick your wrist, there is no fun left. Pressing a button is just as realistic as flailing your arm wildly, it's easier, and gives scope for more complex and interesting games because there are more buttons on the controller than there are distinct flicky twisty stabby movements.

My opinion is based on experience, I bought a Wii, the magic wore off when I realised the remote was just a really big button that you have to shake, so I bought a PS3, and it's better. Sorry, I don't think this is a good deal.

In the whole I agree with you, you should be aware that the remote is extremely accurate though. Have a look at some of the people who have paired them with a pc and taken readings to see how accurate they were.

What doesn't work so well is that accuracy in games, as you say you can just flick your wrist to do most things. You may find that you're doing the movement that you think should be done but the wii may think differently! Difficult to work out the exact movement needed without having someone show you.

Once you realise you can just flick your wrist the fun has gone...? No once you realise that you may as well reach for the pipe and slippers. Pressing a button does not have the same effect as having 4 mates trying to serve and volley or having a mate take out the zombie spitters while another takes out the zombie dogs.
You are confusing glossy games covering the same old ground with an actual multi-player experience that is actually fun.
It's not only stood up to, but stands over the 360 and PS3 movie player.
The problem is you are spending too much time flicking your wrist alone, and missing out on a bit of fun.

That only happens in the adverts. Real people don't have perma-smiles and a desire to sweat in their own living room. Playing games is for relaxing, not exercising. The feeling of companionship when you're doing multiplayer either with friends or on the internet is the same whether you're flicking a remote or pressing buttons, but pressing buttons is considerably less embarrassing. You're still playing a game with your friends, you're still serving, volleying and shooting, the only difference is that on the Wii the games aren't as good!

The only people who could enjoy the Wii for a sustained period of time are people who don't mind jigging around unnecessarily and who won't notice poor quality games so long as they have Disney characters or Mario in. Those people are called children, and the Wii is a great toy, but it's not a games console, and shouldn't be priced like one.

If you want a proper games console, fork out an extra £40 on this: hotukdeals.com/ite…go/

Sorry but i would like to try and agree with you but you are wrong, i know from having drunken mates over jiggling about and not being so @nal that they feel embarrassed. Playing online is fine but trying to hi-5 someone across the Atlantic is as sad as replying to 'girls in your area' virtual friends....
I have a 'proper' games console in the 360, i don't need a blu(e) ray player thanks. I have a Wii and a great set of games that i can play with real people i can see and interact with.
Sorry you mistake gloss for entertainment.

What's the point of playing real football when you could be sat at home flicking your wrist at virtual balls with virtual friends?
